Fun and super easy to use
These are great to use. Super easy, they instantly work which is wonderful in the world of everything else needing an app, complicated setup etc. We used these on vacation on the beach (water resistant!) with our kids and they had great range and battery life and clear sound in an area where cell phone signals were almost non-existent. The clip is pretty convenient to make them hands free and I liked the overall design. Great overall product that doesn't break the bank.

4.5 of 5 stars. Great for communicating while cycling or anywhere remotely
Got these Cobra Act120B Walkie Talkies for use primarily when bicycling and after 3 mos of use still having a blast with them. It's REALLY nice to be able to talk to your fellow rider and adds a fun dimension of cycling. The signal is clear and there is very minimal voice distortion, but since it does occasionally occur I deducted .5 from the review. And you don't have to be "line of sight" for a clear signal. Have used in heavy woods and around curves or over hills with zero issues. I'm not sure what the total range would be but definitely clear within 1 1/2 miles or so. The battery life is great and easily get 10 hours with a bit to spare. They are compact and lightweight and easily clip on a garment and stay there. They are well made and should last a very long while. And although our primary use is while cycling, also use at home a lot. I frequently am at work in the workshop and wife in the house and we use these instead of using text feature on the cell phone - much nicer to have an interactive conversation without messing with cell phones all the time. And although we don't have children, these things would be a great gift for kids. They would have a blast with them and with the low price makes this very doable.Overall a well designed and fun product that I highly recommend.

Great walkie talkies!
These walkie talkies are fantastic. The small size makes them very easy to carry around, even in your pocket. The sound quality is great. The range works well. I've only had a chance to try them up to a range of a few miles, but everything works great. Perfect for being in the outdoors with limited cell phone coverage. Also great for activities where you don't want to bring along your phone, but still have the ability to communicate with others in your group.

Had high hopes
We bought this product to use with our 6 y/o son for him to take around the neighborhood. We liked that it was small and could clip on to his clothes. The reviews seemed promising, so we went forward and purchased. They arrived and we quickly tried them out. The design is easy to understand and to use. However, one of our walkie talkies was very fuzzy and hard to understand what was being said--the other one of the set worked great! We tested them out around the house and the range was fine. However, i took one out on my walk with me in the neighborhood to test it out. I had just walked across the street (maybe 400 feet?) and already was unable to communicate with the other walkie talkie in the house. The range was terrible and was completely useless for what we were looking for. Perhaps the set we got was defective, but we are returning.Again, design was great. Function was easy. But having received one with poor sound quality and then the very tiny range, it did not live up at all to what we need it for or what it is advertised for.

I want to love these, but they don't really work
I used these for multi-pitch rock climbing comms. They would have been awesome, but they were totally unreliable. Sometimes my partner could hear me, sometimes not. We were never more than 60 meters away from each other.

Works well around the house - communication outside of our yard though is not realistic
These are miniature speakers/transmitters that are about 2-1/2 inches in diameter. In my opinion they are a bit too large to wear as lapel communicators and they definitely "tug" on shirts/blouses, especially of lighter weight fabric. But they are the smallest units that I could find that included an internal speaker, with all smaller "walkie-talkies" that I could find requiring headphones or earbuds to work. The sound quality is adequate to get someone's attention, but often sounds unclear and fuzzy. We use it mostly around the house and the yard to communicate with family members that would otherwise be too far away require shouting at the top of our lungs to reach. We wear them all day long in our relatively large, multi-story house, and when outside, just for communication. The signal is strong enough that we can reach someone in the back yard from the front yard. A 12-mile communication range claim by the manufacturer is really quite laughable with these, and the seller lost a star just for making/listing a claim like that. We live in a relatively flat, hill-free section of town with houses every few hundred feet with a few trees here and there, and communication is acceptable to a range just barely outside the limits of our yard. Realistically, with trees and houses around, I would say you might get a few hundred yards. We get decent signaling throughout the house (over 100 ft through at least two floors) and can even communicate with someone outside in the yard wearing one of these. A negative is that it is actually too easy to switch channels, so if you inadvertently hit the +/- buttons rather than the speaker button, you can easily switch off of the channel you need (and thus prevent communication). This is not a problem for most adults, but kids and the elderly may have problems fumbling around with the units to speak and accidentally hit the wrong buttons. If you are depending on these to make sure you can keep tabs on a kid, or someone elderly or disabled, I would say it could be quite risky as they can easily and inadvertently switch off the designated channel. The manufacturer should take this into consideration and develop some better way to lock the channels in so they cannot be changed inadvertently. The clips on the back are secure, but the units are large enough and heavy enough that if you are at all active it is best to tuck them into a pocket to prevent them falling off. Otherwise they are very likely to be banged around a bit, as even just raking leaves or doing yard work is enough to jostle them to the point of falling off and getting lost. Other than making the units smaller somehow, I don't know of a solution to this except putting them in a pocket (where they sound a bit muffled, but can still be heard). Overall they do an adequate job of letting us communicate around the house, but beyond that would be iffy.
