DR Strings PURE BLUES Bass Guitar Strings (PB5-40)

Excellent, only strings I put on my Lakland 55-02.

Perfect tone for jazz base.

Soft on the fingers, nickel wound so easy on the frets too. Nice tone. Not for stainless steel piano tones, nice mid-range burp. My current fave.

After playing DR Hi Beams for many years because they fit the music I was playing at the time, now I'm doing much more Reggae and R&B and for that sound the Hi Beams were bright and a little zingy (if that's a word). So the search began for a string that was a little thicker yet versatile, after bouncing thru pretty much every bass string DR made I set on these Pure Blues. Fat on the bottom for my PJ setup but still good for a little midrange punch. I don't really slap much with the PJ so I don't really need the high end brightness as I did with the Hi Beams but with an EQ change you can get that with Pure Blues. I always say "do what suits YOUR need", and you're gonna kiss some bass frogs to get there. I hope this helps...

These are decent strings, I just prefer Sunbeams.

I have always used DR Strings switching between Hi Beams and Lo Riders. Thought I would try something new. Pleasantly surprised by these Pure Blues. I have found my new favorite string. Nice feel and flexibility combined with great highs, mids and lows.
