Not too strong, smells great
These colognes smell great, aren’t overwhelming and still has a faint bit of smell left by day’s end.

Choices with the variety package.
This was a Christmas gift. She really liked that there were three scents from which to choose. She could choose a different scent based on her mood. Or she could choose a favorite scent in order to buy a regular size bottle.

Excellent scents
But the atomizer leaks. 7/8ths of the jockey now perfumes my medicine cabinet. Grrrrrr….

My favorite
I got this one confused with the other jockey club from Casswell-Massey, but now I finally got the right one and it’s great. This one’s not as floral as the other but they’re both called the same, a little confusing

This brand was established in 1752 so they know a thing or two about fragrances. LX48: Top notes are geranium and violet. Middle notes are oakmoss and tobacco. Basenotes are leather and cedar. This cologne has an opening note of violet which I absolutely love in both mens and womens' fragrances. I also notice a really strong tobacco scent, and leather. I'd say definitely more of a fall and winter fragrance for this one, as it is pretty warm with the leather, tobacco and cedar notes. It sits close to the skin and although it's a mens' fragrance the violet can have it lean towards a unisex scent. Jockey Club: Top notes are bergamont, carnation, thyme with middles notes of jasmine, basil, orris, rose, dew drops and a powdery base. This scent has a bit of an older, sophisticated feel to it. Something you'd expect mean wearing on their trip to the horse races, hence the name I suppose. The citrus gives it a little bit of sunshine, but the musk settles it in. Kind of feels like it takes you back to an old barbershop and has a nostalgic feel. Ros: Top note is bergamont. Middle note is rose. Base notes are spices, anise, black amber. To me this is a very clean and fresh scent. The rose is quite prominent in it to me, but the dry down to the amber gives it a warmness. Again, gives a vibe of a distinguished, sophisticated man. Overall these are really nice scents with a lot of layers. I would say they don't lean towards trendy or modern. I find so many modern scents are too fruity, fresh or cheap smelling to me, lacking depth and warmth. These scents are more classic and sophisticated, leaning towards historic. I personally really like them, but scent is so personal! It's a great little kit to give them a try if you want to sample a variety of the Caswell-Massey scents.

I cannot understand why this is priced $125!! GASP!!! You get 3, very small travel sized vials, of this putrid smelling "fragrance". I enjoy purchasing quality cologne from retail stores, and this smells like something that sells in a dollar store. I'm not sure if they are supposed to be knock-offs of other brand name cologne sets, but whatever they are attempting to do, they missed the mark. Did I mention it's $125?!!

This high quality product from a historic American house (1752). Caswell Massey is a well-respected brand amongst those in the know and if you're looking to take a trip back in time then this gift set is for you. Each of these has a distinct vintage 1960's (and older) smell that seems out of step with todays bright punchy fresh scents that are loaded with citrus and herbs. On the opposite end, these are spicy, woody, musky fragrances and super masculine scents that are also extremely powerful and project well (and last long!). Perfect if you're wearing them in a 1960's restaurant where your scent is competing with a haze of cigarette smoke and you want your date to be mesmerized by your masculinity - but in 2023 they're overly powerful to the point where everyone in the room knows that you're wearing something loud. These are not “safe” scents and a heavy trigger finger could cause evacuation of offices and complaining from weak coworkers (I warned you!!) That said, none of the three fragrances are bad by any stretch of the imagination, and I enjoyed each one on it's own merits. Jockey Club was my favorite of the three and perhaps because it's what JFK wore. Jockey Club is a citrus amber rose patchouli cologne - a classic barber shop scent. Tabac original, Lagerfeld classic, and Clubman Pinaud are very similar. It's the most modern smelling and the only one I'd wear casually or to the office. LX48 is a winter fragrance. Leather, woods, violet, and tobacco. This definitely the one you don't want to over apply and is the most dated smelling of the three. But it still smells great and some women really love it. Ros is a is a rugged masculine rose, surrounded by black pepper, sweet anis, cloaked in cognac, and fine tobacco - it's pure class and sophistication. This one I found lasted the longest on my skin and does so in a way that's pretty nice. Overall this is a nice high-quality "off the beaten path" set that will surprise and delight. If you're tired of the same old Paco, Gio, Creed or cheap "sport" colognes - this will expand your collection and it's worth checking out!

First, I just wanna say how surprised I was how large each of the vials of these Caswell Massey testers are. Each is about 7 mL and much larger than a sample size, but smaller than a full size container. I was very keen to try this set for a few reasons. First, I was very keen to smell Jockey club, because that was JFK’s signature fragrance. I’m intrigued by the historical significance second I know Caswell Massey are quality fragrances, and I wondered what might be a nice unisex sent for me to wear. All three of these cents, smell expensive. They are not drugstore type sense, though they are very traditional. Jockey club is the most masculine of them and would not work as a unisex fragrance in my opinion. I’m not 100% certain what the notes are but it definitely has a clean barbershop smell. The product description says it is a citrus amber fragrance but I don’t get much amber from it. I really liked LX 48 and I am currently wearing this as a unisex fragrance. It’s a sharp fragrance, and I definitely pick up a relatively sweet violet from it. It also has a certain freshness which you don’t get too often from Violet. The product description says it has tobacco, leather and resin notes but I feel as though it almost has a bit of citrus scent on my skin. I expected to like ROS best based on the notes (floral spicy amber), but I find the spice a little heavy and masculine. As unisex sense, these definitely tip towards the masculine. They are gorgeous cents with interest in compositions of notes, and have a very strong vintage/heritage vibe. I will continue to wear LX48, but I’ll encourage the men in my family to experiment with the others. Really great set for exploring some beautiful and historical scents!!

This Caswell-Massey Iconic Discovery Set includes three small Sample/Travel size vials of Men's cologne. You get a vial of Jockey Club, a vial of LX48 and a vial of ROS. Each bottle contains 0.25 fl oz (7.5 ml) of cologne. I understand that individual appreciation of these colognes is going to vary from person to person, but I found the Jockey Club to be fairly nice and not overpowering. It's a cologne that I've tried in the past, but only on a few limited occasions and I still have an almost full bottle sitting in my bathroom. The LX48 was a little stronger and had a more floral scent mixed with hints of wood and leather. It was not bad, but the combination of scents was a little odd to me. The ROS was the strongest scent of the three and seemed almost completely floral based. It was much too strong and overpowering for me making me sneeze several times before I washed it off my wrist. While this does look like a very nice, high end gift set, quality control could use some major improvement! All three vials of cologne that I received had tops that were not secured properly and allowed some liquid to spill out. Thankfully the spillage from the Jockey Club and LX48 vials was contained by the cap, but the ROS was leaking into the box and I estimate this vial lost about 0.8 ml of it's total volume (see pictures). Taking into account the current price point ($125.00), and the fact that the caps on all three bottles were loose causing spillage, I really can't give this sample set more than 3 stars.
