Great Camera!
The E1 outdoor camera is an excellent buy. I wanted to set something up to monitor my driveway and entryway. Some of the things I was looking for were: Local storage without a subscription. The camera can take a 256GB micro SD card and holds recordings for days and days. I have been using for a week and it's not even half full. You can go back to specific days and check the events by watching or downloading. Once the card is full it overwrites. What's nice is, because of the smart detection. I can filter out videos based on if it's a motion, vehicle, person, or animal event. Constant power. I didn't want battery. This comes with its own power supply and a long extension cord. The extension cord is about 14 feet long with a few extra feet of cord on the power supply. Wifi and Network capability. The Wifi connection is good. Able to connect on a 2.4ghz or 5ghz band. It also has an ethernet adapter. Also has the ability to connect with Alexa via a skills app. The Reolink app for alexa works great. I can ask Alexa to show me the camera on my Echo Show or Fire Tablet and it pulls it up with no problem Setup was really simple. I connected it to my network via ethernet for the initial setup. Installed the app on my phone and went through the process. One thing I will stress. **UPDATE THE FIRMWARE** Not the app update. Go to the website and follow the instructions on how to download the latest firmware and how to update it. This solved some initial issues that I was having. The Reolink phone app is great. Lots of different options to fiddle with. For example. Being able to setup non-detection zones (in my case blocking out the road so passing traffic doesn't trigger a recording), Night vision, motion tracking, color/black and white options, smart detection.... These are things that are fun to mess around with and decide what is right for you. Overall the app is very easy to use. There are other things as well. Setting up a PC client, Accessing from a browser, using an FTP server, Remote monitoring, and the use of an NVR system. And... the picture quality is great. Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase.

An outstanding security camera
This is a top-quality product, as are all others from this company that I’ve used for years. This camera easily connects via wireless wi-fi or wired LAN, uses internal image storage, and employs AI features to recognize, track, and record your choice of people, vehicles, and/or animals, while displaying high-definition images in full color, even at night. Its free smart-phone and laptop/desktop apps selectively display images from this and other cameras of this brand individually or in combination. What’s more, this company’s customer services are truly outstanding. They stand 100% behind their products, and respond quickly and personally to relevant customer questions, problems, and issues. My experience with security devices leads me to highly recommend this camera, this company’s customer services, and its other quality products.

excellent camera, only 1 weak point! (updated)
This is an excellent camera with generally good controls. It connects to wifi readily, and can be controlled via phone, tablet or computer. Image quality is really good (day or night). My only complaints is non-recyclable packing material. There is way too much non-recyclable plastic, and this can be remedied (this is actually the real reason I gave it other than a perfect rating). I am amazed at the tech support that Realink has: in my initial review I complained about the focus control (it was mouse click controlled), and Realink issued an update on May 12, 2022 that fixed that to a slider! Very, very impressive and responsive. This is a great camera and well worth the cost! We are using it to monitor the progress of an owl family in our tree (and to help us know when the ravens are attacking so we can run them off). As I update this we are experiencing some pretty significant winter weather, in snow country. I suspect the camera has picked up some freezing fog or snow, because it's almost non-responsive to the movement control. In spring maybe I'll encase it in plexiglass, but for now I suspect this is how winter will progress. Other than that, it's a really great camera! We love being able to listen to the wildlife outside in the winter when the last thing we want to do is open a window! Strongly recommend this device.

Best security camera I've used.
2 weeks edit: So far this camera has been absolutely solid. Not a single drop of connection that I've noticed. It has been so good that I'm actually back here because I'm buying another one to replace my Amcrest camera which doesn't want to work correctly anymore. I currently own and use an Amcrest IP2M, a Wyze v2, and 3 Foscam R2C cameras. They all work more or less, but they are all very finnicky (especially when using WiFi). So, when I wanted to add another camera outside my house, I wanted to try a different manufacturer. My specific needs were/are: 1. An outdoor camera 2. PTZ control 3. Has RTSP so I can monitor/record all my cameras from a computer on my network 4. Has 5Ghz WiFi since I don't want to run an Ethernet cable to the location this camera is at and 2.4Ghz hasn't been reliable for my outdoor cameras. This camera seemed to fit the bill, so when it went on sale recently, I bought one. Boy, am I glad I did. This camera is leaps and bounds better than all my other cameras. I had no trouble setting it up, unlike the Foscam cameras. I also have had no problems with keeping a good connection on WiFi like all my other cameras. I initially didn't know how to get the RTSP working and, based on other reviews, was worried that maybe this camera didn't have working RTSP. But, the missing piece of info from these reviews is you have to access the camera via your browser by using the camera's IP address. This gets you access to all the settings for the camera that you can't get from the Reolink phone app. The RTSP toggle is in Settings > Network Settings > Advanced > Port Settings (Set Up). Not only does this camera have everything I needed, but it also has some really useful extras I wasn't expecting I would find useful. Things like FTP uploading, on-camera person and car detection, and auto return to position. There's also a Home Assistant custom integration for Reolink cameras that works with this camera so I can have notifications from Home Assistant when motion is detected. The only downside of this camera that I can think of is that if you have the camera hanging up really high (like > 10 feet) it probably wouldn't be able to see directly below it. The camera can't look down all the way, so if you have it up high, you might have to reorient the camera sideways or something to see straight down from a high distance. Anyway, this is already way too long, but I'm just really excited about how solid this camera is compared to all my other cameras. I'm definitely going to be replacing the other cameras with this model in the future.

Long term wast of money
Initialy about 6 months this camera worked fine. It strated having Now It drifts from its monitor point randomly . If you pan it to another position it never returns to the correct position. Its auto focus worksfine in daylight but at night its random. Its tracking is so slow it can't keep up to a very slow walk. I have other Reolink cameras ( not E1s ) and they have worked flawlessly for years.

Simple, economical way to build a surveillance system
These cameras work as indoor and outdoor. I now have three of them and am slowly building a surveillance system around my home. Most surveillance systems, while already costing $500 and up, require either a monthly subscription and/or a DVR to save video. With this camera, you can buy one at a time. The camera has a hidden area to add a 256GB micro-SD card. You can access via smart phone or PC application to monitor your cameras. It sets up very easy and quickly. You will need a power source nearby for each camera. In my opinion, this is a better way to set up a surveillance system across your home/business without forking out a large amount of money at once. As mentioned I am buying one at a time and now have three. Total video storage at the moment is roughly 750GB total, One more camera and I will have the same storage as most packages with DVR and for less overall. It has plenty of features such as Pan/Tilt/Zoom aka PTZ, vehicle, human, and animal recognition, motion detection, night vision, 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi compatible, flood light and alarm. This camera offers 3X optical zoom and 5mp (2560x1920p) HD video which is important. Do not sacrifice the resolution. Go at least 5mp or higher. The higher the better. You may need it one day to get a license plate number or a clear facial image. I give five stars for this camera and highly recommend.

Great features - Great Camera - But not entirely reliable
I really like this camera, but it has a flaw. Pros: - very clear picture - person and vehicle recognition are somewhat tunable and pretty accurate/reliable - it will pan/follow a vehicle or person it has spotted. - Good night vision, but also has light and switches to color when its turned on. - you can set a monitor point and it will (usually) return to it after it spots something and follows it Cons - Field of view is not super wide. (there are other cameras from Reolink that are, so not a huge problem) Wish it had the ability to scan back and forth between two monitor points. - Occasional failure to return to monitor point... and worse it points to its mount point. This is a pretty serious flaw. Every other day or so, I'll notice that the camera is pointed directly at the wall its mounted on. If I tell it to return to its monitor point.... it stays pointed at the wall. Once I recalibrate the camera, it will return to the correct monitor point.

No False Alarms!
I got this camera to replace one that alerted me to every bush movement or insect flying by. You can set this one up to warn of ONLY persons or vehicles, and you can block out areas you don't want to scan, like the street in front of my home. This system does not need an online subscription either, so you save on that cost. The picture quality is very good and setup is quite simple, especially using the Windows App on a PC. Update: One of my cameras stopped connecting to my WiFi network and no amount of work would make it connect again. Reolink's customer service tried to get it to work too, but without success. My case was referred to their Warranty Division and a replacement camera was sent to me, which arrived today. It is up and running properly. Outstanding customer support!
