Great little hotspot
I have an unlimited data only plan from AT&T and after months of using my phone as a mobile hotspot, I decided I needed an actual separate hotspot device. I chose this one despite the mediocre reviews that it had. I'm glad I did, because it works perfectly for me! I received a brand new device in a sealed box (I noticed several other reviewers stating they received a used or refurbished device). It was pre-charged to 88% when I took it out of the box. I turned it on, inserted my SIM card, and I was good to go! No setup was required. My only slight quibble is that the battery life could be better, but I guess I can't complain when I have my phone hooked up to this streaming music all day. I find that I need to charge it bare minimum once a day, sometimes more. If you're out and about and don't have access to any kind of charger for over a day, you may want to invest in a power bank or something similar to ensure it can always be charged. If you have an AT&T data plan, get this hotspot! It's great.

Often Lose Signal and Not Reliable
Those who are looking for this might expect this to work just like a phone's tethering portable hotspot. Technically speaking yeah. However, most of the times you have to completely shut it down and turn it back on again in order to be scanned by your phone. The battery life was not very good either. On idle (standby, WiFi not activated) it'll consume like more than 35% a day. While it is turned on and you only use it for Google Maps (like I do), it'll last at least 5 hours straight before reaching 30% battery level. It tend to get hot, so if you can, do not put it on your pants pocket. It does support carrier other than AT&T. I am using T-mobile SIM in this device. It does support receiving messages, but it DOES NOT support outgoing messages. The refresh rate of the device is fairly low, definitely lower than 20 fps (not smooth). Screen sensitivity is OK.Update: I had been using this for 4 months. Later, I discovered that my phone support AT&T carrier, thus no longer needed. I kept it left alone for 'just in case' situation. Today, I decided that I no longer need it and was planning to sell it. To my surprise, the device doesn't work. I left it charged for the whole night, but it won't turn on. Sucks.

This replaced my existing ZTE MF923 that I have been using daily since 2014
My old ZTE MF923 was originally purchased to use occasionally on trips to remote locations. ATT seemed to be everywhere I needed to go back in 2014.Turned out I have used a ZTE MF923 plugged in everyday since as my WIFI router. Speed of the download is dependent on how close you are to a Cell Tower. I have run the old one at 100Mbps at one point and could recently get it up to 80Mbps.MF923 provides either 2.4 Mbps or 5.0 Mbps wifi. My old one just slowed down on 5.0 so I changed to 2.4Mbps Wi-Fi speed came back and I ordered a new one.The new MF923 gets 75Mbps but I have not optimized it by moving locations around my Amazon Firestick. Speed is location dependent. The new one does not come with a sim card and I used my existing MF923 sim card and 32GB memory card for sharing files (Max capacity of MF923).I made some minor personal choices on the new one, but I could have just plugged and played.I needed to reselect my new WIFI router choice on each user device as I kept the new visible system ID and did not use the old one, which I could have.If you want to use this for streaming remember you must be near enough to get these speeds.SD (480p): 3+ MbpsHD (720โ1080p): 5โ13+ Mbps4K (UHD, 2160p): 16โ25 MbpsIf you want to know the speeds you will get. You can approximate 4G speeds with the 4G telephone or MF923 by looking at the cellular signal strength. My MF923 and cellphone receive -78dbm cellular signal strength inside my place and I get max 75Mbps speed early morning and it reduces during the day to 20Mbps+ I have no problem streaming.Your signal strength should stay above -100dbm to get decent speeds. Since numbers are negative, power is higher with less negative numbers. Personally I would only accept -80 to -85dbm or less negative, I have run in the -90s for office work though. And yes, Cable would be a better choice but this is all I need. And the price is right.
