Dull
It was a fast read but dull and not as inciteful as anticipated.

Fascinating Autobiography!
An absolutely fascinating mind and a delightful autobiography. The reader guy (I have the audio version) does a good job reading, that plus the many interesting anecdotes make for an enjoyable autobiography. A good one.

Interesting and Useful Book!
This book is a rather quick read. It is written by the infamous Nikola Tesla. He was obviously a genius, but it also struck me that he was also a rather humble man as well. It seemed to me that someone like Nikola Tesla would be the ideal older brother because he was kind AND brilliant at the same time. I recommend this book to everyone who is either an engineer or is married to an engineer. It somewhat gives you a peak into the soul of a brilliant genius. I'm very glad I read this book and will no doubt read it again from time to time. (By the way, I am a female engineer and I worked with many male engineers over the years.) In general, engineers are a misunderstood group of people who have far more compassion and empathy than people realize. If you live with or are related to an engineer, I suggest that you read this book.

An Inventor, Not A Writer
No surprise that this is a bit of a strange book. Tesla was an amazing man and an awesome inventor. A writer he is not. However it does give one insight into one of the most brilliant minds of the 20 th century.

Fascinating insight into the life and mind of the great man
This work is an unexpected treasure. From the first page to the last I was enthralled by Tesla's life story. Not only does the book give a fascinating insight into the life and mind of the great inventor himself, but also includes details of his interactions with other famous figures of his times including people as diverse as Mr. Clements (Mark Twain himself) and Thomas Edison. Tesla describes how his unique mind worked. Amongst other fascinating insights, Tesla tells how he was able to visualise a new machine in his mind and run prototypes in his mind, without having to actually build the prototypes. Once he had perfected the machines and had them built according to his designs they always ran exactly as he had visualised in his mind. Hoe much time, energy and cost could be saved and how much more quickly progress would oxcur if others were able to emulate Tesla's methods-but alas it seems his was a unique genius and the rest of us are condemed to take the slower path of trial and error that is the scientific method. Tesla also describes many ideas which although never created are still fascinating and plausible, such as a worldwide high speed transportation system built around the world's equator. He even anticipated the creation of what we would now term robots or androids. I highly recommend this book for the insight it gives into the fascinating and prolific mind of one of the greatest and most unique figures of the 20th century whose inventions immeasurably transformed our world.

School systems do not teach about Tesla - that I know of! They should.
Tesla, one of the smartest men who ever lived in recent era! Read all you can about him and his inventions - the "industries" were against him his whole life - because he was about helping people instead of making "big wigs" richer! He was heavy into the magnetic world and how to make free electricity, etc - and these days his work is beginning to take on more importance for the average person! Learn about the 3-6-9 combo's and how they relate to science and math and inventing!

Mistakes such as "Guest" instead of "Guessed", "Tho" instead of "Though" are found in this book. I am surprised to find such elementary issues in Tesla's autobiography.
