Actually moistens and soothes tired, dry and irritated eyes
I have dry and tired eyes and occasional itchy/irritated eyes from seasonal allergies. My optometrist recommended warm compresses. I tried warm, moist towels - which lose heat quickly, microwaved rice in a sock - I even tried hard-boiled eggs wrapped in moist thin towels. While offering some relief, they're cumbersome to keep on eyes. I decided to look online and found this product.I absolutely LOVE this eye compress. It's simple to use - microwave on plate, fluff and strap over eyes. It stays in place, feels good, doesn't smell - I think it's some sort of "rice" in the patches - so it can easily be evened out. The heat is retained for a decent period of time - 5-8 minutes. I have been doing ritualistically at night now - I close my eyes and lay down in bed or on a yogibo - and meditate/ deep breathe. I believe it has truly helped my eyes - they're left feeling hydrated and refreshed.Plus - it's pretty. I love the deep purple color. It's also washable. I recommend this product.SarahK

Second time buyer
Mom washed mine trying to be helpful.. I cried. This next one is just as amazing as the other. I had this same eye mask for maybe 4 years. Always reliable for a moist heat to relieve my tired eyes, never let me down or caught fire in the microwave. This one has already been used numerous times since being delivered this morning and is just as much of a gem. If you are sick needing relief, if you work on a computer all day, or just need some some really good rest, this is an amazing product.

Sauna treatment for your eyes
I got this for my 4 year old. She has blepharitis and saw great reviews on this about it helping others with same problem. Although it does fit her big (since this is an adult size) she loves the softness. Her eyes not only need heat but moisture and this provides both. I tried it on myself and it feels like a sauna treatment for your eyes. The only reason i gave it a 4 star is because of the smell it has after you microwave it. Its not an overwhelming smell but it is noticeable. I would buy again.

Buy it! Buy it now!
This has immediately become my absolute favorite Amazon purchase EVER!!! It arrived very quickly & I was excited to use it. I purchased this particular heated eye mask based off reviews & it did not disappoint! I was able to try it for the first time after a long work day & what a relaxing soothing way to enjoy my evening. For me 40 seconds in the microwave was perfect. The heat lasts a long time. The weight to it from the flaxseed is very comforting. So relaxing & comforting I fell asleep with it on & woke up wondering what year it was! I love this mask & plan on using it daily. I also like that the outer part is removable & machine washable & it came with a little dust bag to store it in. If you've never used a heated eye mask you are in for such a pampering treat ya'self experience! This is truly a product I didn't know I needed & now I am OBSESSED!

Exceeded expectations
This item is so much better than I expected! This really over exceeded expectations. I’m so happy with this. The material on the outside is really really soft and plush and it feels so nice on the eyes. My only downside is I wish there was better instructions because I’m not sure if this is supposed to go in the microwave the whole thing or just the inside. I am just putting the inside piece in the microwave which works out fine

Careful heating it
This is a well- priced product and gives refuge to dry eyes but the covering fabric got scorched in several places. I now wrap it in a dish towel before heating it but considering that’s how it’s meant to be used I think the fabric should’ve been sturdier. Not sure what’s inside of it but my whole house smells like popcorn.

It really works with the bonus effect of meditation twice a day!
My optometrist is doing everything possible to avoid surgery on my tear ducts. We have tried lots of medications and drops through the years for my dry eyes (so dry that trying a whole series of contact lenses, up to and including hydrophilic ones, did not work and I have to wear glasses). Hot, wet compresses were recommended, so I searched and I found these. They really work! I can blink and feel dampness in my eyes!I use ground flaxseed on a daily basis in cooking, so I am not put off by the smell of toasted grain. Here are the steps I follow, based on reading many previous reviews and on my own thinking:1) I lay it flat on my microwave turntable, strap folded underneath so that none of it is exposed. There's no metal in the strap anyway, but a few mentioned arcing in their microwaves, so I want to avoid this.2) Microwave it on high for 30 seconds.3) I set the timer on my microwave for 6 minutes and carry it back by its strap, along with a tissue folded in half, to my bed.4) I lie down on my bed, put the tissue over my eyes, and then lay the mask on top of the tissue. I DO NOT USE THE STRAP but let gravity keep it on my eyes. The strap just gets flung over on top once I'm settled.5) I relax for 5 minutes (the extra minute on the timer is to give me time to get back to my room and all set up) with the soothing warmth on my eyes. I have stopped doing my morning meditation because this has the same effect! I let go of all my muscles, let the weight fall down into the earth, and just focus on my breathing. A very calming effect, same as when I meditate, and with the bonus of getting to do it again each night so I can relax before I go to sleep.6) When the timer rings, I remove it and carry it back to the kitchen by its strap, while gently rubbing each tear duct with a fingertip. So I could have cut off the strap since I don't use it, but it's how I carry it around.I can't see having to wash the cover very often, maybe just once a month for sanitation, since it isn't exposed to the air or dust and doesn't sit directly on my face while I'm using it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Along with my drops and meds, I am finally getting relief from a lifelong problem.
