So I compared ingredients with many (not all) other raw and freeze dried raw dog foods. (Many of which have both the raw food you have to keep in your freezer and the freeze-dried option). Many had the requirements that I was looking for but I felt that the "Primal" brand seemed what I wanted. My problem is, they offer many different meats. I can't choose! I chose rabbit this time and my dog absolutely goes ga-ga over it! I do not feed it as her main meal because the expense to feed raw is quite expensive. This is a topper over her other food. Over the past month since I have started feeding her this, I have seen her with more energy and she seems to feel really, really good! She is eight now and even though she is still doing agility and lure coursing, she had slown down a bit. Not a lot, but a bit. I thought that this was normal since she is now considered of geriatric age. But now that she has been getting some of "Primal's" freeze-dried nuggets each feeding. I have seen that difference in her. And she loves it! I love giving it to her now because I have seen that change in her. I don't know if others have seen changes in their animals in adding this, but it did in my dog. I love this! And! What is wonderful about these freeze-dried raw diets is that they last longer. Professionally prep'd raw diets are good for your dog, but because you have to keep it in your freezer and make sure there are some that are thawed in your fridge it makes it a bit more difficult. But freeze-dried raw diets don't have to be kept in the freezer or your refrigerator. You do need to rehydrate it before serving. That is, if you would like to do so. I actually, do not rehydrate it. I just give it as a topper. The other food she is on has plenty of moisture in it and I always make sure she has plenty of water available. Taking this food with you and your dog on vacation with you is easy. Anyway, this "Primal" raw freeze-dried food is awesome! I recommend it!

Dog loves this

We feed our two adult Morkie, and toddler Shih Tzu this freeze dried food along with some high-quality kibble. The rabbit flavor is one of their favorites. They are excited to eat it. I have this unsubscribe and save in rotation with the beef flavor. I recently took the venison flavor out of the rotation because it is so hard to crumble before reconstituting it with water. The rabbit and the beef crumble so nicely. This is important because my 10-year-old feeds the dogs one day per week and it’s nice that she is able to feel independent in completing her chore. We mix this with boiling water from our electric tea kettle, and then throw in some kibble, probiotic, and give everything a good mix. The dogs run to eat their breakfast! Is it expensive? Absolutely. But look at the ingredients compared to the crap that they put in most dog foods. The ingredients in this freeze dried food are better than what most humans eat.

My dogs love it

We’ve been making our 2 dogs, yorkies, homemade for past 3+ years. Haven’t been able to do same with our 4 cats - I’d be cooking all day long. I’d started moving the cats to Primal frozen and freeze-dried, with cats it’s a slow transition (although they love it)... but the dogs were keenly interested once hot water was mixed in the cats’ freeze dried portions. They could smell it, after all. So we’ve been using Primal freeze dried as a rotational meal, Supplementing their homemade, using the different meats. What’s especially notable is our 13yo Yorkie is extremely picky and she’s so excited about meal time when we make her Primal. To see her excited about eating is so beautiful, especially if you’ve ever had a dog that loses interest in food...she likes and still gets her homemade meals, but to have this for her... well, she’s getting Primal a lot now because she loves it. Having done multiple meats between their dog and cat freeze dried offerings, I will say that some pucks in a bag are ‘spongier,’ and some are harder. I don’t perceive these being stale when they are harder, as several other reviewers comment. Some of the recipes have a higher portion of vegetable/fruit than others which I believe impacts the spongeyness.
