Artesanía Latina - Wooden Ship Model – Jolly Boat of British Merchant Vessel, HMS Bounty – Model 19004N, 1:25 Scale – Models to Assemble – Beginner Level

This is the third time I have built this model. The first I made a pig's ear of, the second I finished but was not happy with the end result. The thing is, i spoilt the earlier attempts by being overconfident. Because I have built plastic models for 40+ years. It doesn't matter if you can build one of the new over engineered highly detailed kits, fought with tiny photo etched or resin parts of turned out an amazing model from an awful short run kit. Moving to wood is a whole new ball game. However, this is a great model to cut your teeth on as it is not to complex. Also Artesinia Latina are the Tamiya of wooden kits. Yes you can get cheaper but the quality will not come close. A great wooden kit to make the move over with. But you must also need to be ready to learn a lot of new skills, some of which are counter initiative to working with plastc, so be ready to watch a lot of videos and learn to use a whole new range of tools. But this is a great start point before you get tempted to try an HMS Victory or Cutty Sark.

Having just opened this model kit, I found it to be totally underwhelming for the price and was very disappointed to say the least. It was to be my first entry into model boat building and if I continue I shall certainly not be returning to this company to purchase my kits.

the kit is very good value for money and has enough difficulty to satisfy the builder who has made a couple of large "airfix" models. My father is 82 and was a tradesman and has been very satisfied building it

the planking was of wood that was far too hard to bend in a conventional way using a plankforming tool. I found the only way i could bend the plankig was to steam bend it this is very time consuming and does not always work. I have made several models and have found this to be the hardest. The instructions are not the clearest, I could not reccomend this kit to an amateur I have had many years experience working with wood and found thic to be the most challenging.

Il y’a tout et tout est de très bonne qualité , le mode d’emploi est à lire et relire avec attention , la traduction n’étant pas toujours exacte comme la dimension des pièces qui peut changer en fonction de la langue ! Mais sinon c’est un vrai plaisir tout à fait réalisable avec un peu de soin .

This is about the third of artisanal models I have purchased and by far the best. It contained a photographic and notational Manuel of the steps to be taken. Very good. ? Why weren't the other kits up to this standard?
