It works right out of the box. Removing cap to get single beam was very hard. Just turning it didn't work, I had to pull and turn to get it to come off. No plans to put the cap back on.The TINY Product Details paper (1"x3") shows that there is a very small hole near the USB connector. Blue light while charging, off when fully charged. Tip: hold a sheet of white paper about 2"-3" away from the hole to see the blue light. Much easier for me than bending down.I was amazed at how far the laser went at night. The more the sun got up the smaller the dot, brightness and range.I bought it to annoy the Canada Geese that have taken over our city. They don't like it.I don't know about battery life because I only had it on each time for about 10 seconds or less. It was on a total of about 60 seconds.Total charge time was about 2 hours.

This laser has a bright and long green color beam, fits well in the hand. The laser is made of a tough metal build making it durable. The bottom of the laser pointer has a convenient design with a USB-A plug for quick charging on the go. The laser also comes with the added functionality of patterned effect caps; the one that comes installed must be removed to have a full beam. It would be nice if there was a slider to cover the on button, maybe on the next version.Overall:+Convenient Recharging+Strong Laser+Build Quality.

After attending a professional Star Party at McDonald Observatory in West TX, and benefitting from a guided tour of the night sky, I knew this would be a great tool for home star parties. The laser is a nice handheld size and very bright. Easy to use and easy for viewers to follow the beam to see what stars you are pointing at. A great value.

Priced right. Haven't played with it enough to properly judge the battery life yet but so far so good. Seems very durable. The different light pattern tips are cool. Excellent for pointing out stars planets constellations etc.

This laser pointer is amazing. The green beam goes insanely far, especially at night, it feels like it stretches forever. But what really sold me is how effective it is at scaring off Canadian geese. My boyfriend runs outside every day, and the geese are a real nuisance around here in the spring. The green beam totally freaks them out in the best (most humane) way. I’ve already bought two of these, and I am about to order a couple more as gifts. Just a heads-up: be careful when removing the "star cap." I broke mine off while trying to get the straight laser beam, so now I know better. Still, I highly recommend it. Powerful, fun, and super useful!

It’s definetly powerful, it goes far, it’s a quality laser, I bought this because I wanted a high quality laser pointer that won’t break down to use with my pets, but this is just too powerful for that use so I’ll have to return it, but honestly if you need it for other things, get it

I got this laser pointer to play with my cat, because it was the cheapest green beam option I could find. I was somewhat surprised it was rechargeable, with batteries that seem to work really well, and is shockingly bright. Almost too much for playing with my cat, but it doesn’t seem to leave lasting spots when I look at it up close shined against a white wall, so I believe it is still ice safe.You can see the laser for hundreds of meters in the night sky, and it truly outshines anything else I have seen there isn’t purpose built to be eye unsafe.

It took a little while to get the straight light without the stars, by removing the cap. Tha make is solid, the light intensity seems strong,and the projection is on the big side.
