The end of Uraboku (ONE MAJOR SPOILER BELOW!)
I've followed this manga series from the second volume 1 got translated into English. It's angsty, overwrought, funny, clever, and has both a wounded hero and tons of paranormal elements. It's everything I read manga for.The author/artist is in chronic poor health and the time between volumes grew longer and longer. She'd post on her website about her health issues and apologize for the delay. The last gap was, literally, years long. When volume 8 appeared for pre-order it was announced as the conclusion. I was surprised, because there were so many plot threads to tie up.I got vol 8 the day it released and read it the same day. It speaks to the power of the writing and depth of the characters that I just now realized why I've been miserable, depressed, and cranky for 2 days: The last volume resolves NOTHING. It adds a couple of good twists that had been foreshadowed, but every single plot thread is left dangling. I was completely invested in these characters and wanted so much to see how it all turned out.In a two-page written afterword, the author/artist hinted that she might craft a side story sometime in the future. If she does, I'll buy it. But I would've kept waiting for years again for enough volumes to actually finish the story.Honestly, I recommend the series wholeheartedly if this type of manga is your thing, but be warned.

A final installment that leaves most every question unanswered
Wow. What to say? I've adored this series since the anime and have been following it for years. This volume-the last volume in the series-is just half an answer. It's so unfortunate that it leaves all of the Luka/Yuki questions lingering, and answers only a few of the big-picture stuff. As always, the artwork is gorgeous. The story is rushed, unfortunately, and as I said, incomplete. Knowing there won't be any more of this series, I'm very sad. Sad that I am so invested in it and will never know the answers to the questions I, the diehard romantic, wanted to know. Sad that I waited so long and felt so disappointed. I'd have been happy to wait years again to get a true conclusion to the story. All that said, the story, even incomplete, is beautiful, so I'm giving it 4 stars.

Ending is thrown together
This series ending was equally as disappointing as the series finale of the TV show LOST. I recommend reading the series, it's beautiful, but don't read the last volume unless you want to go out of your way to be disappointed and PO'd. Numerous unanswered questions. Reading this last volume made me vow to not buy anything else by this author.

Last in series, but not quitelast story that could be told
I waited so long for this final book. It was a bit of a let down, but did answer a lot of questions I had during the series. I was hoping for a complete ending with the war finally finished, but I like how the author brought hurt feelings between the two main characters, Yuki and Reiga, to a close and explained what actually happened 1000 years ago when the village went up in flames with Reiga being blamed for the death of Yomi. The real hitch is the realization about Takashiro and his switch to the other side. This screams second story arc. Overall, I love this series. The art is beautiful, the story is engaging and I will reread it often.

I love this series so I am sad to see it ...
I love this series so I am sad to see it end. Added to the fact that there are still a lot of loose ends but I guess, it opens up the possibility of continuing the story later on.

I don't like that the story isn't finished
While I understand why she is stopping here, I don't like that the story isn't finished, and is likely never to be finished. I have too many manga that are never going to be finished. My OCD is going crazy.

Bittersweet
Unfortunately since the author was experiencing health issues, the series had to end abruptly but itβs still beautiful in its own way. Thank you Ms. Hotaru Odagiri

Saves the Best for Last....although it's Open Ended
As my title suggests, this book is excellent, but there's a fair deal of unanswered questions to contend with.In the anime, whilst you kinda knew it wasn't quite the end but could live with it because of the adorable way in which it ended with all the Zweilt being together and Luka having a tender moment with Yuki. (Which still makes me tear up every time I see it.)Whereas in the manga....so much happens in this book despite how short it is that I kind of felt a little....frustrated....I'm not sure if that's the right word...but yeah....because of everything that happens for Yuki and the gang, the ending was a bit unfulfilling I think. I had a lot of questions, which will probably remain unanswered unless (praying here) that there is a possibility The Betrayal Knows My Name manga will be revisited....PLEASE let this be the case!!!!!Haha, but that aside, another perfect novel, with excellent characters, illustrations and everything else. I haven't really read manga for a long time so wasn't sure how I'd get on with it, but I really enjoyed it, despite the strangeness of reading right to left!I can really really recommend this series, both the anime and the manga, as it is unlike anything I have ever read. A must read for fantasy lovers!! :D

No spoilers
Although the manga takes a while to come out I find each book to be well worth the wait. Thereβs so much to be explained but a little more does in this book.
