Great mid-grade, quality pliers
Weller makes good, serviceable soldering irons, and their Xcelite pliers are similar in their placement. Won't be the best pliers out there, but they are good enough for professional work, but inexpensive enough to not strain your wallet. Quality materials, tight and smooth pivot joint, and good comfort. Probably the sweet spot in price versus performance. After reading some other, negative, reviews I felt compelled to add some more. These NOT expensive pliers. There are very high quality pliers out there that are $100 for the same configuration. Swanstrom, Tronex, etc. Even Knipex is about twice the price. I read a lot of comments about "made in China" as well - I don't like that half of what we buy in the US is Chinese now, but quality in this case is not a detractor. These are well made out of industry-standard materials. I compared them to some other pliers I have that are very expensive - while they may lack the high luster finish of some of my German tools, they are just as tight fitting and work just as well. For $25 you won't find better.

precision and craftsmanship
The tips touch before rest of the jaw (see image) which is perfect. This is what you want for grabbing small items with needle nose pliers as these tools have thin metal parts that will bend.Precision hinge and well balanced and manufactured jaws with teeth.Handle is very "tacky" for good grip and they don't slide like cheap pliers.Glad i spent the extra $$$.

I *LOVE* these pliers
I was looking for some fine-point pliers as the one I was dependent on is pretty old. I was hoping for finer tips (these are about 1mm x 1.5mm across a single tip), but for my purposes (breadboarding and small electronic parts work), they are great. The do have a little side-to-side "slop" at the tip (maybe 0.25mm), but consider the low-cost, I'm ok with that and it hasn't been a problem. They close cleanly and completely providing a good grip at the tip (even if the tips are occasionally misaligned. To that end, putting torque on them while gripping tightly does result in the misalignment, but they still grip pretty well in spite of it. So, I am still giving them five stars because of the "value for the money" compared to much more expensive pliers (which can also have tip misalignment when torquing on them for that matter). (If you want good value pliers WITHOUT the serrated inside surfaces, Channellok E50S pliers are a good choice although they have narrower "tines" which does make them a bit weaker with less grip though.)

Do you evaluate pliers by pulling individual arm hairs? I do.
If you know tools, you know the name Xcelite and nothing I say is necessary. When it comes to high quality precision pliers, I don't know of a better brand. I know of other high quality brands like Knipex, but these run circles around em. If these aren't the best pliers you've ever owned, you're the problem.

Great quality as always in this brand. However...
While the overall quality it great, the return spring could be a lot stronger. They don't return strongly enough. I have to play finger yoga to hold onto them.

This is a great needle-nose pliers
I've had one of these for a while, and am very happy with it. I decided to buy a second one to keep in my mobile toolbox. It's exactly what I expected in terms of the tool itself. However, the description states twice that it is green (in the title and in the specifications). The "About This Item" says it's blue, and the picture is blue. The item I received is indeed blue. I don't care about the grip color, but the erroneous description should be corrected. It doesn't help that the "Report incorrect product information" link doesn't do anything useful. For those who are interested, the packaging states the the item is model NN7776VN, and is made in China for the Apex Tool Group, LLC in Apex, North Carolina, USA.

Well made, worth the extra $$$.
Beautifully made. Solid and superbly finished. The little spring works perfectly to keep the pliers open.

Not precise at all!
Very disappointed! I always trusted Weller with their soldering products, as I used them for years, but this purchase changed my opinion. The tips don’t even land on each other correctly and are not aligned. The pressure points change as the pressure increases. Unbelievable.
