Another brilliant cookbook from Asma Khan
Asma’s third book, another beauty. Beauty in the amazing cover artwork, pictures inside and, of course, the recipes and food. A six seasonal cookbook, with the addition of Monsoon season and Dry season, as it is in India. Love Asma’s recipes and writing, and really like the menu suggestions throughout the book too.

Beautifully written and stunning visuals
I was kindly gifted this book to review and instantly I was impressed with the cover design. It is really captivating and stands out, the photos throughout the book are also beautiful. The book is also so well written, with some lovely comments about making recipes your own. It felt like reading a story at times with the details about the origin of the recipes. At the start of the book it takes you through some of the basics of Indian cooking however, I would say this book is for someone who does have some experience of cooking these recipes as sometimes I had to look up how things should be turning out as not everything was clear in the instructions. The recipes are paragraphs rather than step-by-step instructions which I found made it harder for me to keep track of where I was in the recipe. I also would have appreciated having timings to know how long the prep or cooking of a recipe would take.Whilst cooking the recipes my house smelt amazing though and it was a joy to learn about new spices and ingredients which I look forward to using again in the future. My boyfriend also commented on how tasty the food was so glad it went down a hit! I liked how many of the recipes were gluten free or only needed some small adjustments to make them gluten free.

A Beautiful Celebration of Indian Home Cooking
Asma Khan’s Monsoon is an absolute gem. From the moment I opened the book, I was drawn in by the stunning photography and heartfelt storytelling that runs through each page. It’s more than just a cookbook — it’s a celebration of family, heritage, and the kind of food that brings people together. We recently made the paneer kebabs from the book, and they were hands-down the best we’ve ever had. The marinade was full of bold, warming spices, and the method was simple to follow — perfect for a weeknight dinner or to impress guests. The paneer turned out so tender and flavourful, it instantly became a new household favourite. What I love most is how accessible the recipes are, even if you’re not a seasoned cook. Asma shares personal stories and tips that make the book feel warm and welcoming. Whether you’re new to Indian cooking or looking to expand your repertoire, Monsoon is an inspiring, delicious place to start.Highly recommend — this will be a treasured addition to your kitchen!

Beautifully presented Indian recipe book
Can I just first start off by saying how impressed I am with the aesthetics of this book! I mean it is really bright, colorful and eye-catching with a bright blue background and decorated with ingredients. It is also embossed and due to being so wonderfully presented would also make for an ideal gift for the food lover! Monsoon by Asma Khan not only looks premium but is well set out and easy to follow. The book is structured around the six Indian seasons - spring, summer, monsoon, autumn, dry season and winter - which brings a refreshing change from the usual divisions found in most cookbooks. This seasonal approach adds a depth of understanding to the way food is enjoyed throughout the year in India, and it has inspired me to cook more in tune with the time of year. The recipes themselves are well-balanced, with a great mix of meat and vegetarian dishes, as well as a lovely range of chutneys, curries, snacks and sweets. Every dish I’ve tried so far has been delicious, with clear instructions and well-portioned ingredients that don’t need adjusting. The inclusion of stories and background for each recipe makes it feel like more than just a guide - it’s more like an invitation into Asma’s world, full of warmth, heritage and passion. The book also includes a helpful introduction to essential ingredients, cooking techniques and the six Ayurvedic flavours, which I found both educational and enjoyable to read. The vibrant photographs throughout are stunning and help bring the recipes to life, although I would have liked more pictures for every dish to make choosing a recipe a little easier, especially on busy days. I also would have appreciated estimated cooking times, as this would help plan meals better during the week.Despite these small points, Monsoon is a true standout. It manages to be both a practical kitchen companion and a beautifully presented book that you’ll want to sit and leaf through on a quiet afternoon. Whether you’re already a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to bring new and exciting flavours into your home, this book is inspiring, accessible and full of heart.

A look & taste sensation....
I was part of a campaign to review this book, and from the moment I saw the vibrant, eye-catching cover, I was intrigued. Inside, the experience only got better—there’s an impressive variety of recipes, all presented in a clear and easy-to-follow format. Each recipe is accompanied by stunning photographs that bring the dishes to life and make you want to dive right into cooking. One of our favourites so far has been the Hariyali Chicken Kababs—absolutely delicious! We're so inspired that we’ve decided to incorporate a new recipe from the book into our weekly meal plan. I can't wait to explore more!

Lovely book
This is a lovely book, more than just a cookbook, but a celebration of foods and occasions.I use a lot of recipes and my only critique here was I’d like a quick note on how long the prep and cooking time would be, but you need to read the recipe to work this out.In terms of the recipes I’ve tried, they were easy to follow and the dishes were new to me, and a joy to both cook and eat!
