I cannot understand some of the negative comments here because in my view this is an excellent quality and very stylish hook and eye. I used it for a kitchen doors stay, so that when my French door was open I could keep it that way. With proper positioning, it worked a treat and I only had to add two wall plugs, drill some holes in the wall, and pilot holes in the wood door. The screws provided work just fine. Simple DIY. And it looks great. But remember, it isn’t heavy duty enough to secure your farm gate or similar, it is for lighter uses.

Excellent product. Fitted onto 2 new outdoor gates. They have been on for 6 months now and still look brand new. They are very well made, quite chunky, and close together perfectly. Would highly recommend.

Good quality door hold-opens

I installed this at the week on my new shed which was initially offered to me for a price when I ordered my shed, but even the saleman said get one online at it will be cheaper. In fact this was £5 cheaper than the Shed retailer were offering. Installing was relatively straightforward if you have the correct tools. Screws are supplied and are enough for fixing to wood. Look extremely sturdy and will recommend to a friend.

Brought 2 8" inch of these for 6ft side drive gates 2 years ago and they still look like new. Very strong and has out lasting the cast iron ones the gates came with. Even after the Beast from East and all the winds since. Would recommend this product and just ordered another for the front gate.

Whilst the hook looked good and sturdy the supplied screws did not go through the holes. so no real good. I used one of the hooks (of two ordered) in a place where I screwed into wood both sides and will have to return one hook, as this is needed to screw into brickwork.Seller offered to send thinner screws, but I felt that even the screws supplied originally would have difficulty holding in brickwork, as we can get windy conditions
