Effective but super sensitive. I canât decide between 4 or 5 stars, but in the end, this thing works really well for keeping my cat away from my plants. We had issues with him digging in the dirt, chewing on the leaves, and once killed a plant from peeing in the dirt⊠Something had to be done, so I thought I would try this, and it works amazingly. HOWEVER, the motion sensor is super sensitive. They show pictures of this on a counter, but just walking by the thing will set it off. I wish it was a little less sensitive. I solved this problem by pointing the sensor towards my plants so that the cat will need to walk between the sprayer and the plant to set it off. This works great, and checking around online, the spray does not harm the plants, and the couple of times it has gone off, Iâd agree the plants seem just fine. Just make sure to turn it off with the button if you plan to do anything around your plants, like pruning or watering. Unfortunately, the can only has so many sprays until you need to buy a new one, so keep that in mind when working on them. I also found that the motor that pushes down the sprayer is pretty loud; the sound alone scares my cat, so if this can runs out, I may just leave it and see if the sound alone will deter him. So far, he has only found out the hard way once and has seemed to learn his lesson quickly, so the only reason I see needing to replace the can is when my daughter keeps setting it off when she goes by the plant.

I have successfully used Ssscat sensors for years, but this â2nd generationâ product is garbage. The sensor doesnât work at all. My cat walked back and forth in front of the unit repeatedly, without anything happening at all! I am so disappointed in this purchase! It SHOULD be super easy to use, but I only managed to set it off a handful of times by waving my hand right in front of it. I thought it was a battery issue, but replacing the batteries didnât make a difference. The original product that was just a battery operated sensor that attached to the top of the spray can, worked perfectly for my cats. After almost two decades of use, most of my original ones have stopped working properly. I really wish I could get the same ones I had before. Other companies sell similar products, but they have to be charged regularly. I prefer the battery operated ones. I worked in a vet clinic for 27 years, and recommended the original product many times, with successful results. At this point, I would never recommend THIS product. The company needs to reevaluate their product, and fix this issue that so many are having. When it costs this much and canât be returned, itâs not worth even trying it. If youâre on the fence about trying the 2nd generation Pet Safe Ssscat sensor, DO NOT BUY it. Buy one of the products that sits on top of the spray can. You will be much happier!

I like this product and have used it for the last few months to which it has accomplished exactly what I got it for: to keep my cats out of the kitchen or off of my dresser/desk. If itâs set up in a location where you donât have to move it every now and then (my cats donât get on the counter anymore but they get in the cabinets close to the floor so the device sits on the floor) then it might be an issue. I have to move it so I donât get sprayed walking in and out of the kitchen but I believe this throws the sensor off and Iâve found it to completely stop working at times because of it. This doesnât say the device is faulty or doesnât work as intended because I donât think itâs meant to be moved around all the time but this has been the only issue Iâve seen. The longevity of the batteries are still holding up so theyâve passed a long time. Thereâs no smell, and itâs not too big of an item either. So overall I would recommend the product but only in a place that it wonât be moved. The item hasnât leaked at all and itâs pretty fast if itâs working correctly. Again, I move this thing around a lot because of it sitting on the kitchen floor and it throws the sensor off to where it doesnât work right unless reset with power on/off but other than that the device works as intended and I would recommend it for normal use.

We had one of these years ago and it worked flawlessly. Ordered this newer style one recently to help one of our cats from peeing in an area it shouldn't pee in. This thing just won't work. I've replaced the batteries twice, thinking it may be the batteries but that's not the case. No matter what setting I try, it doesn't work as it claims. It'll go off when no one is around it, yet our cat can walk right up to it, sniff it, and it won't even detect the motion and alert the cat. This thing is garbage as listed in other reviews. Amazon directs you to the manufacturer to return it or contact the company's support department, but that is a joke. This item isn't even listed on the company's website to get support for and you can't advance with your support request until you select the item you're needing support with. What a waste of money. I wish we wouldn't have gotten rid of our old one from years ago. It worked incredibly well.. this newer model is just junk. Another dissatisfied customer that's out $50+ bucks because I can't return it. Such a scam.. I'm surprised Amazon deflects these complaints and return requests onto the manufacturer with no help from them at all. All I did was waste time going down a rabbit hole on the manufacturer's website that does not help at all because this item is not even listed. So now I'm not only out the money, but I'm really pissed off. Don't waste your money on this folks!

Weâve been using this for a week to keep our cat from throwing herself at our door at night when we sleep (I am a very light sleeper and she would keep me awake when we let her sleep with us). I placed the sprayer in the corner by the door so if she passes by it to bang on the door it will spray. So far it has worked well, and is better than some of the other sprayers I found on amazon. The plastic housing for the spray is much better and it was very self explanatory to set up and turn on. We donât move it around very much and havenât had any issues with the sprayer going off when no one is around - it just works as expected to keep the cat away from our door.
