Beginner - these so far are great for me. Nice application of paint and they hold shape nicely after cleaning.

Love the long handle on these - it can be hard to find a decent set this long, especially for the price. I just started oil paining, and they really do need their own brushes. These have nice, stiff bristles which hold up well to the thicker oil paint. I did have some fallout of loose hairs initially, but I had kinda figured that and washed them before I used them which seemed to rid the strays and keep them from getting stuck places they shouldn’t be. I’ve now tried a few different art supplies and storage items from this Meeden brand, and I’ve been happy and pleasantly surprised with everything I’ve tried so far.

They are wonderful. There has been no shedding, and the stiffness is good for me. the only downside is that there are not enough filberts or round brushes.

Although I paint almost exclusively in acrylics, I prefer to paint using natural fibers in my brushes rather than the more often used synthetics. I realize that synthetic brushes will typically last longer and stand up better to the paint and to frequent washings but I like the way that natural fibers will apply to canvases and how their natural split ends will provide a smoother and cleaner coating.This set of eight (8) hog bristle and two (2) horse hair brushes is an economic introduction to painting with natural fibers. Hog bristle is a high quality material for artists and the best quality hog bristle is usually imported from China.Hog bristle forms a V-shaped split at the tip and tends to have a natural curve. The bristles, with the curves formed inward to the ferrule, have a natural resistance to fraying and spread both medium and thick paints smoothly and evenly. This is really nice looking brush set with rosewood handles and very sturdy ferrules. I primarily work with water-based media, but needed some less typical brushes to add variety to my watercolor and gouache mark making for collage work. These fit the bill perfectly. The bristles have a nice stiffness but feel classy rather than coarse. The range of sizes and shapes in the set is generous and promotes a lot of creativity. They pick up wet media well, then dry rather quickly as you apply brushstrokes encouraging effortless transitions from wet style painting to dry brush strokes for really cool textured edge effects. They have a nice level of scritchiness on the paper and really expand my mark making well beyond what can be done with soft brushes. The longer handles also offer the option of holding the brush in a more controlled fashion or going out to the end to allow happy accidents to appear freely.Each different brush tip has its own personality so there is a lot to explore creatively in this set. I really like it a lot.

I'm a newbie when it comes to painting, but my sister is an awesome artist and when I was little I remember seeing her easel and collection of brushes. It was always so impressive, I've just had the little plastic handled brushes with synthetic bristles, which were kind of short too. These are nice and long and just feel great since they're made of wood with the metal features. The biggest difference is the actual hog hair bristles that really keep their shape well. The paint loads nicely and they allow for a uniform paint stroke. Also, they are not too flimsy, which is something I was looking for so I can paint details and sharp edges on 3D printed items. These are really good quality and have a perfect variety of tips. There's really nothing more I need, this feels like a complete set. There's even a pretty large brush for covering large areas, and they are worth the price. Thank you so much for the great product.
