Abu Garcia Max SX Spinning Reel and Fishing Rod Combo

I bought two of these poles. My wife and I love them. There has been no problems with them at all!! Recommend!

I love this combo! I got it for striper fishing off of a pier where I live because I was having trouble reeling them up 20ft to pier flip them. This rod has more backbone than the previous one I was using for stripers so I’ve been able to pier flip around 40 striped bass between 1-4lbs with no real problem. I have the 7ft med-heavy with the med-fast tip. I’ve also caught around 10 leopard sharks in the 3-7lb range on this rod as well as a ton of jacksmelt and various types of surf perch.

Don't buy this fishing rod. The tip is very weak and will break. The reel is decent for a $10, but at $80+ it's just not a good buy. I was trying to retrieve a lure from a tree, but when I reached up to get it, the tp of this rod crumbled between my two fingers? I haven't never seen anything like it. I'm guessing it was a bad batch of graphite or carbon fiber? That's why I buy UgulySticks because they last and this doesn't happen and you can keep on fishing!

Works amazing! I just suck at fishing

I thought this combo was going to be great for the price. It broke down to travel easily, was lightweight, and the reel was smooth. Unfortunately the first fish I caught snapped the pole just above the connecter. This pole might be ok fishing in small ponds but it snapped pretty easily on a 5lb redfish. Update: I have updated my review to your. While the pole snapped, the warranty process was easy and my pole was replaced very quickly. I will use it for smaller fish. A+ customer service.

My husband loves this reel. We go fishing on Lake Erie for Perch and Walleye. Can feel the bites so much better, very light weight. Will be ordering more to replace the older rods on our boat.

The price of this rod and reel does not equal the quality. I expect more from Abu Garcia. I have two other rods made by them and paid less than this and both are of better quality. The rod isn’t bad though not sure it’s med/heavy. The reel is cheap and sounds it. Plastic and cheap metal. Drag does not pull even. Not what i expected. The set up catches fish but don’t expect the reel to last long. Better options out there.

Smooth, very durable, value for the money I spent, rod and reel como is awesome, the function is awesome. My husband loves it!

Rod snapped with average fish in. Clean broke off just above 4th eyelit. Only a few uses. Can’t even get a single replacement rod without buying a combo. Not sure how warranty works on this combo package but clearly rod construction not great.
