It will require a learning curve. You might need 2-3 shaves and use your previous razor to clear the shave the hard to reach areas such as under nose. Once you learn how to control it the feeling is amazing. With this razor you don't need to worry about clogging just Rinse it under the water and walla, it's clean and ready to serve. The included Blades are good and give you 3-5 shaves easily. I got 3 best and after that I could feel it. But it varies from person to person based on the hair thickness. Overall I am very happy.

Really enjoy the look and feel of the razor.

Received this razor this week.It is a nice looking and well finished razor,has a good weight. Blades it comes with are too mild for me so after a couple of times I tried ied with an Astro blade this worked a lot better.The razor is very mild so anyone just starting to use single blade razors this is an ideal starter.For more experience it is still a great good looking razor but needs a more aggressive blade. I would suggest to the people at Viking that instead of 5 mild Viking blades that they replace a couple with their more aggressive blades.

The Vikings Blade Chieftain is a very good quality razor that is solidly made and has good heft. I bought the "Vintage Bronze and Ancient Dust" model to replace an old Gillette adjustable safety razor with the same twist open mechanism. The blade angle is very good and the razor opens easily for blade changes and cleaning. It comes nicely packaged in a box with a magnetic clasp and a box of Swedish-made Viking blades. The Viking blades are low quality and grabby. I suggest you just toss them or give them to someone you don't like. I tried one of the blades for a week and it wasn't good. I swapped that blade out for a platinum coated Feather blade and immediately got a smooth, clean shave with no grabbing. If you are new to shaving, do your face a favor and buy good quality blades like Feather. Don't buy into the nonsense about "beginner blades". Cheap, dull blades will frustrate you, cut you and not make shaving the satisfying experience it should be. Pair this handle with a good blade and you won't be disappointed.
