Benzoin Resin | Natural Benzoin Incense for Calming & Purifying | Premium Aromatic Resin | 2 oz

If you're buying this you probably already know what it is, but since the listing doesn't have any general information you should know that it is not "incense" in the sense most Americans are used to. It's resin. You can't just take a piece and light it. I did know and was happy to be offered some! So, I'll fill you in if you need that.When the package arrives and you see your pieces are crumbled as in my first image, that's normal. If you try to burn it on it's own, it will just melt as in my second image, which is also normal. Traditionally you burn this on coal or mixed with something natural like inside a coconut shell with the coconut hair or a sage bundle or with other incense to enhance its scent, but you can mix it with anything flammable as long as you're conscious of the fact that whatever you're burning it with is going to end up in your house and you'll be breathing it, so pick carefully. I'm using untreated wood shavings as starter in my third image, since I know it's only going to be burning a short time. As you can see the flame goes and the resin burns in the hot ash. The resin also pops and can fly, so you should be using this as intended and not lighting it and walking away like it's an incense stick or cone, and you should not expect to be burning it a long time like you would commercial incense.So, if that's not what you want it for, this isn't your incense. If it is what you want it for, the scent is wonderful and this is clearly all Benzoin: gentle vanilla-like scent that mingles and lingers with the smoke beautifully. I'm very happy with it.

Nice big hearty chunks! Smells strong and clean. This will last me forever! Great value. I use for incense so I can’t speak on cosmetic value.
