Giro Fixture Mips Cycling Helmet

Its hard to size a head properly for helmet fitting ive always found, so buying an adjustable one is a good compromise i thought. Giro is obviously a recognised brand and so i plumped for this. I have what my wife has described as watermelon sized head so i was little worried about fitting but it sits comfortably just fine. The chin strap is fully adjustable and only needs single hand ooperation that you can slot in and release even whilst wearing gloves which is a bonus when its cold.Theres a locking dial on the back of the helmet to tighten up once you pop it on which works just fine as well. Ive also got a light mounted on it as well as a go pro and over 300 miles on the roads so far ive had no issues at all with it, its comfortable, well ventilated, light and doesnt seem to create or retain moisture, ie sweat, though would review in sweltering heat to be sure not the sub zero temperatures weve currently been bestowed with.Hard to review the main feature of a helmet objectively unless your a stuntman or unlucky/not looking where your going so ill just hope it performs as well in a crash as it does on every other count if that time ever comes.

Ok lets start by saying the colour of this helmet is nothing like the incipid green in the picture, thank god its bloody horrible, I ordered this colour Matt Lime because of a review on youtube which showed a more yellow colour, it arrived today and is perfect , the colour is very close to fluro yellow in fact, I love it, be bright be seen as they used to say many moons ago,right that out of the way , the helmet is very comfortable with very precise adjustment from the wheel at the back, the strap lock is a ratchet type which is so easy to get the right fit, the build quality seems top notch, I went for the mips version, hopefully I dont get to test it out, all in all a great helmet and good quality.

This is a good value helmet that fits very well. It is slightly bulkier than my other helmets though without a big weight difference.The only issue is with the adjustment wheel at the back of the helmet. On one hand it works really well to adjust the fit to the exact size, though unfortunately I find it very hard to use as it is obstructed by the helmet itself. This means that tweaking the adjustment once on your head is actually quite a challenge, with only the bottom part of the adjustment dial exposed - if wearing gloves it is nigh on impossible to do (I've not found this the case with other helmets with adjustment wheels).It isn't an issue most of the time, with a 'set and forget' approach, though if you decide to wear anything under the helmet or take it off during a ride, readjusting the fit can be more difficult than it should be.However, for the money this is a good helmet and with the addition of MIPS makes it pretty much a bargain buy.

THE best MTB helmet I've owned. Fit, for me, is superb. Most helmets have felt OK for 15mins after which they've felt tight and left "scars" at the contact points. This is a genuine pleasure to wear, so light and comfortable you forget its there. Quality is excellent and at this price amazing value for money. I've tried helmets twice the price which have seemes poor in comparison.

yes it's two to three times the price of other helmets out there. but it's worth it.Pros: it arrived well packed and in a box.the fit is very good.very light.visor is easy to removeis a nicely finished product and the fittings dont feel cheap.Cons:it's a little bulky, but space between your head and the surface is a good thing.the grey is lighter than pictured.that's it for now as i havent ridden and I'm recovering from a crash.I'll update this accordingly.

I was a little worried about the fit as it's a one size helmet and I have a small head. However the fitting mechanism is excellent and the helmet is a great fit adn very comfortable. And it looks great!

This seemed to be the cheapest MIPS helmet available, and it was no compromise! It was very good value. It fits well, the adjustment is easy to use and most importantly I forget I'm wearing it despite the apparent bulk.The visor is a little loose, however does not flap while riding and can be removed quite easily. Well recommended.

Overall, excellent helmet. Well sized considering it's a 1 size fits all, and lightweight as well as providing decent protection.The one criticism, is that the straps that come out of the helmet and meet under the ears (before connecting under the chin), are not adjustable. This has caused minor discomfort on a ride but has eased when I've got a bit more used to it. Not a deal breaker by any stretch, but something to bear in mind if you have larger than average ears.
