A thoughtful gift with nice wording.I think my expectations were a little too high, don’t get the wrong the quality is good. But I thought the board would be heavier, although bamboo is quite a light material, and I also underestimated the thickness of it.It is good for displaying but a bonus that it can also be used practically. As well as the kitchen or as a serving platter, could be ideal for picnics, camping and travel (things done more in retirement, so in keeping with the theme).The last picture on the listing shows someone gifting a box to another person. This is deceptive as the board doesn’t come in a box.

Obviously you can't 'unroll' a bamboo tree (or can you), so this has been made from 10 `strips` that have been bonded together.Bamboo is truly hardy, over 100 skyscrapers have been built, using it as scaffolding.I don't believe any other chopping board wood is suitable for such demands.As a result, chopping boards made from it, don't need to be thick.This chopping suffers blades less than traditional ones, which makes for much easier cleaning and a far smaller chance of residue bacteria clinging on.That's the hardware out of the way..The 'gift value' of this product is high, lovely writing, lovely graphics, wonderful message.
