This was my first encounter with Fredrik Backman, and I wasn’t sure what to expect at the beginning. The strange hostage setup felt almost absurd, but gradually it turned into something much more human and thoughtful. I liked how the story moves between humor and quiet sadness, letting each character reveal their fears little by little. By the end, it felt less about the situation and more about understanding people.
