Not challenging enough for my son but it was fun

Very well-designed and made engine model kit
The media could not be loaded. This kit will take someone who is detail-oriented 6-8 hours to complete. The model has perfect symmetry as built and the parts fit very well and are molded nicely. It would be a good idea to have simple hand tools available to assist alignment and assembly of some parts, or for disassembly if you make a mistake. The valve covers are opaque, not clear like the pictures show. You can still see the piston motion, however, so not a big deal.Wear finger cots for a better result.I have built several models of different types over the years and the quality of this kit is light-years ahead. It is well-worth the money considering the challenge presented and amount of time it took to assemble.

Not advised to purchase!
Unless you are fond of frustrations, I would advise NOT to attempt to put this piece of crap together! There are NO instructions except pictorial suggestions. The pieces are NOT numbered, and the pictures are misleading! You will have to rummage thru the entire set of pieces to find the ones to put together.Update: This is by far the worse piece of junk I've ever attempted to put together. The pictorial instructions are misleading and even incorrect and/or false! There are NO WRITTEN instructions, and one has to rummage through pile of pieces to find the possibly correct next assembly point!I will repeat: Stay away from this piece of junk unless you have frustration phobia!

Sturdy, No pieces missing!
The media could not be loaded. Looks good! Did run into some trouble connecting pieces, due to stiffness of the plastic. About half a dozen pieces are loose once fully built. Took me around 8 hours to build. Good value for the price!

Worth the investment
This is a great kit. Love the stand and motor that makes the engine spin.

Cool set to build!
My 7 year old received this as a gift. Though it says 14+, he had it built within a few hours. He loves that the motor actually works and can see the different moving parts.

Not good but not bad either
This is not a bad kit at all, especially considering the price and the fact that there’s very little else like it. The packaging and instruction quality are familiar—somewhat similar, for the most part, to LEGO builds. There are some novel pieces, some very cool, that allow for interesting new build techniques. However, some seemingly incomplete blocks are left for you to assemble just to pad the block count—odd and frustrating, especially when they don’t fit together well. I ran into that a few times.Going back to instruction quality—there are several questionable and outright confusing build steps. I’ve built a lot of models, including a few with upwards of 10,000 pieces, and this is the first time I’ve had to use glue to make the build work. Maybe it’s just how my particular pieces fit, but after 30 minutes of trying, there was no way I was going to succeed in a specific step without glue. Most disappointing was that the engine simply didn’t function as it should have. I suspected this all along—the cylinders kept catching early in the build. I adjusted all the rods and checked fittings, but no matter what I did, it would still catch. It rotated manually a few cycles but would eventually seize—either due to the gears themselves, the cylinder housing, or the gear shaft. The list goes on. I pressed on, but it got worse when I attached the electric motor—the build spontaneously deconstructed one of the cylinder heads. Never mind that this particular one had never caught before. I packed it up to be returned, feeling really disappointed about the six or so hours I wasted. All in all, it’s an easy and straightforward build. All the parts were present and packaged properly. But the instructions and finicky construction leave a lot to be desired. I don’t think I’ll be buying Mould King again.
