About as portable and packable as it gets!
This water filter is pretty good as far as packability is concerned. It is simple and it is designed to be so.Basically made up of three main parts...The filter, the cylinder it fits into and the screw in mouth piece which also holds the filter internally. All of these have rubber seals where needed and it all fits with a reassuring tightness.Rubber seals aside, there are another four parts...A rubber cap for each end, a lanyard and the rubber drinking tube. A very good compact design actually, especially considering it's size and weight.Comparing to my Katadyn Vario water filter which is bulkier and heavier, not to mention three times the price of this one, this is probably the one I would take for short trips. The Katadyn Vario is designed to be screwed onto a standard neck sized water bottle such as Nalgene. Whereas this one is designed to be used as a filtered straw. So both very different.Hillwalkers that might want to save weight and if they know there will be streams or lakes/lochs on their hike would want to take this. This is an excellent, well priced and well designed filter that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Good but doesn't have a long life
This straw has a lot of features, removing viruses isn't always included for some others, so it's clearly aiming to do absolutely everything. It works well, is light and portable. However 500 litres is really not very much before having to replace the filter in my opinion, I'd only really take this as a backup plan rather than your primary drinking source in developing countries as it would get reasonably expensive and would be hard to replace while you're out there. Maybe I am a bit too much of a penny-pincher, but I'd get paranoid that I had lost track of how much I'd used.

Adventure Essential
I've been using the Pure Clear Water Filter Straw for a few months now, and I'm impressed with its performance. It's a lifesaver for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to ensure they have access to clean, safe drinking water. The straw is super easy to use. Just stick it in a water source, suck, and enjoy clean, filtered water. It's great for camping, hiking, and even emergency situations. I've used it in lakes, rivers, and even puddles, and it's always done a great job of filtering out impurities. The best part is that it's so compact and lightweight. It fits easily into my backpack, so I can take it anywhere. Plus, it's durable and built to last. I've used it in some pretty tough conditions, and it's held up well.If you're looking for a reliable water filter that will keep you hydrated on your adventures, I highly recommend the Pure Clear Water Filter Straw. It's a must-have for any outdoor enthusiast.

Replacement for a Lifestraw? I think not, but still a good product
I split my Lifestraw last winter camping season and have recently been looking for a replacement, so the Amazon Algorithm suggested not one but two of these (in different colours) as part of the vine program. This item has 2 features that I do prefer to the Lifestraw.1) it's much shorter and compact (so less chance I'll split it in my pack like I did the Lifestraw)... It is only 20cm long and bit fatter/chunkier, the lifestraw is incredibly thin and 30 cm long, which is how I split it in my pack in the first place)2) it comes with an included extension tube meaning you're not lying on the ground with your head pointing down a river bank trying to suck water uphill and swallow uphill. Now features where it is 'lacking' in comparison to the Lifestraw1) Price. This is incredibly expensive currently priced at £34.99, compared to the Lifestraw (currently on Amazon) at £28.99 but with a 24% discount making it £21.95.2) length of filter life. This product only filters 500 litres, Lifestraw filters are good for 4,000 litres (so only 1/8 the amount of filtered water for nearly 1.5 x the price doesn't seem like good value to me.You can buy extra accessories such as gravity pouches direct from the manufacturers website (2 x Gravity bags will cost you around £15, which for plastic bags with a screw thread to fit seems shockingly expensive)Replacement filter cartridges are also quite expensive at £15 for 500 litres.

Fantastic; works like magic.
I've secretly always wanted one of these, so I was very excited to try it out. It comes in a little carry bag and includes a long pipe straw that attaches to the bottom, and can be dipped into your water source so you don't have to lie down on the ground to sip out of puddles or hang off the overbank to reach canal water.I tested it from two sources: the chicken water feeder (before I cleaned it out), which was full of bits of seed and mud, and the water butt that collects runoff from our gutters. Both are manky waters, but I dipped in my straw, sucked up and hoped for the best. I was worried that even if it was purified it would still taste bad, but it just tastes like regular water?? I spat some out into a cup and yea, it's totally clear! It doesn't even take time to filter through, it's just like using a really big straw. Amazing!Great for: camping, if they release parasite eggs into the public water supply again, time travel (backwards), and survival/the apocalypse.

Very small and portable
I have always wanted one of these water filters, but the ones I had seen were just so bulky and expensive. The Pure Clear Life Filter Pro is small and neat and easily portable. It comes with a nice little drawstring bag (gold, interesting) which is fairly strong. A hard case might have been better, but the plastic of the filter is pretty rigid, so will withstand knocks. The hose is a decent length, but unfortunately, the way it was packed (bent in several places, instead of coiled) means that there are kinks which probably won't go away over time. The cap is of a softer material which fits neatly onto the nozzle at the top. It's a good addition to one's camping gear or when travelling to far-flung places. A good find!
