Sturdy and functional case
I love the case! Not going to lie, it is pretty heavy as other reviewers have stated. I hesitated to buy it for that reason but it hasn’t really bothered me so much, maybe because I don’t carry it anywhere outside of my home. The quality is amazing and feels super sturdy. The magnet on the case that goes around the iPad is very strong that I sometimes even forget that it’s attached to the outer case by a magnet. The flap/stand is also magnetic and fits into the slots on the outer case. It almost snaps into place and the magnet makes it feel very secure. I can lift it up by the iPad and the stand stays attached to the slot. There are also 6 different slots, giving you multiple angle options. Overall great product and highly recommend!

Great option. A bit bulky but that’s ok.
A great option and will be keeping it. Very versatile. Color is great. Looks cool and feels durable and premium. Honestly for the price you can’t go wrong. The different positions to hold the tablet function well. The magnets are very strong as well. I love that it has a separate case part that can be used independently. Only downside is how heavy/bulky it is but I feel this is part of how protective it is and for its various functions. Overall love it.

Amazing case! Good protection for your iPad. Read the instructions!
Quite possibly the best case I have ever owned for an iPad. The materials and build quality are top notch. It's not real leather, but in my opinion, it does feel like it is. It's comfortable to carry. One of the really cool features is that the iPad sits in its own separate case that magnetically connects to the main cover. It allows you to have a much more lightweight, smaller protective cover while using the iPad rather than having the entire cover connected to it if you're just holding it. You can disconnect the iPad and adjust the way that it is connected, to the main cover, so that you can change the orientation from landscape to portrait, depending on what you are doing with the it. I'm not sure if the people that are complaining about the functionality of the main cover being used to hold the iPad up not working either got a defective product or just didn't read the instructions. I have been using it pretty much nonstop since I got it. I have had absolutely no problems with it disconnecting from the case. When you get the case, make sure to read the instructions. There are several small indentation lines that show you exactly where you need to place the case with the iPad so that the magnets correctly attach to the outside cover (there are a couple different markings for positioning of the iPad). If you don't place the iPad in the area that has the clearly marked lines it will slightly connect to the magnets, but it won't hold properly because you aren't connected completely to all the magnets in the case.

A Well thought out, protective M2/M3 iPad Air case, but sacrfices the lightweight of the iPad Air!
Okay. Right off the hop, this case, as seriously protective as this case is, as really heavy feeling in its overall, combined case weight. This case, in its full case use, really destroys/diminishes the very light weight of the M2/M3 iPad Air, making this case very heavy and bulky feeling. The result being that this case is very protective, due to its sheer bulk and weight, which takes away any lightness advantages that the M2/M3 iPad Air, by itself, brings. This case’s saving feature is the secondary, magnetic, removable back case, which, itself, is lighter, but still strong and rigid and adds very little extra weight to the already lightweight M2/M3 iPad Air! This secondary back case is magnetic to allow for use, by itself, as a lightweight companion case, with the iPad nestled inside of it, or to easily change your iPad's viewing orientation from portrait to landscape. The magnets used on this case are very strong, making this secondary, lightweight case somewhat difficult to remove when you want to turn the iPad or use the lighter backcase, with iPad, by itself! Another detractor of this secondary backcase is when using this alone with your M2/M3 iPad nestled in it, the very smooth plastic of this backcase has no surface texture making it rather slippery to hold/grip. I really think that this secondary backcase need a moulded in texture on the entire back of this plastic backcase for better grip/slip resistance! I will be looking for a third party material solution to add a better grip texture for this secondary iPad backcase so I can hold this thinner case with more confidence that is will not slip out of my grip! Another item that would have been nice? I do not like using any type of screen protectors on my iPads as I want direct screen contact with my Apple Pencil! In the 15 years of owning and using iPads, I have never used any types of screen protectors. That stated, I wish ESR could have provided some attachable front cover, for that secondary iPad backcase, even if it was something thin and lightweight, just to protect the screen while carry the iPad in that backcase, alone! I live in a residence with hard floors and I worry with the current very wmooth and slippery back panel plastic surface that I might, very soon, accidentally, drop my new IPad Air and the whole backcase flips down and the iPad screen takes all the impact. An added, extra thin soft material cover to use with the removable backcase, would have been a very welcome addition. I may end up “kludging” some sort of protective cover, on my own, to use with this plastic backcase, just to give my new iPad Aor some screen protection, even if it provides minimal screen protection. This case has plenty of angle adjustments and I like how the support flaps both have built-in feet on the bottom that lock into the grooves of the top cover! This is an outstanding and well thought out feature. I decided to purchase this particular ESR case, instead of my “go to” ZUGU brand cases, because this case has a lot more flexibility for different use cases and,,overall looked much more robust, substantial and protective, than the ZUGU brand case. I just did not forsee the substantially increased weight and bulk this case would bring to have all of these features and protection! I just wish that much lighter secondary, magnetic backcase had some additional “grippy-ness” elements added to it and had some some of fold over or even snap on/over iPad screen cover protection that could be easily removed and, perhaps, magnetically stored/attached to the plastic backcase, when not carrying the iPad in the backcase alone! A very well thought out and protective M2/M3 iPad Air case, but when using the entirety of this case, you sacrfice the lightweight, that the iPad Air, alone/itself brings, for a much heavier weight, heavier carrying device experience! Still recommend despite these flaws/inconveniences! Its heavier weight and bulk is this case’s own device protection insurance! I will just end up, as is usual for me ( the designer, engineer/tinkerer in me can’t help it ), find my own solutions to this iPad case issues/features shortcomings. This ESR magnetic flip case offers many easily usable features and iPad protection insurance for its, relatively inexpemsive price point!

It is heavy but good...
As most other reviews say, it is heavy, but it doesn't really bother me since I mostly use my iPad for writing. I could see the weight being an issue if you were to be gaming on it in your hands; it would definitely start to hurt after a while. The case, however, is very sturdy and tough. It was easy to slip my iPad into and easy to remove. I love the pen holder on it and it fits my 13-inch iPad Air perfectly. The purple color is also very pretty. It is not pastel or faded out.

Love this case, utility the best, quality is ok, no pencil holder
I really love this case. It's expensive compared to other cases but the utility is worth it. I have compared it to some other expensive cases and the quality in build and material isn't as great as I'd hope for the cost of the case... but the design is genius and I'm surprised I couldn't find many other options that use a similar design. When comparing cases, the best premium quality case I could find was the Zugu case; however, I ultimately went with this ESR case instead because the stand and hard shell cover are separate. This allows me to rotate the device and still use the stand which is a huuuuge bonus. The magnets work well. The only thing I hate about this case is that there isn't anything to hold the Apple pencil. Almost every other ipad case I've seen or tested had something to secure the pencil. Unfortunately with this case, I had to get a separate magnetic attachment to secure the pencil when traveling. Not perfect but it works. Aside from this, I love everything else about the case.

Great case, durable, extensible, some weight concerns
Absolutely love this case. It’s very adaptable and fitting. I use often to sit my iPad up at different angles depending where I’m at. The magnets are also great for sitting more like an elevated screen. The pencil holder on back is great to avoid losing pencil when attached to side. However, it still magnets to the side well too for charging. The only downfall Id give this is that it is a bit heavy. But I don’t mind cause the reason is the durability of materials. I’d rather have higher durability at the cost of weight. The weight has never bothered me. I don’t tend to walk around using it. It’s usually sitting somewhere and angled up. It’s the weight is never an issue there.

A solid, versatile folio-style case
I prefer to keep my $1000+ glass slab in something safe. The last one I bought was gret, but a handle on the back prevented it from lying flat, and it ALWAYS had to be used in easel position. New ipad meant new case, and I knew better what I did and didnt want - handle on the back not so important, being able to lie flat, stand at a few different angles was. I love the way this one is put together - the ipad fits into its own protective bumper case like I have on my phone. This inner case sticks to the folio with magnets, but can also be used alone. Which is nice, the full folio obviously has some moving parts, and the entire thing IS heavy - at least as heavy as the ipad alone. When in place, the folio stands at 9 different positions from "comfortable drawing" to "I am small TV", with magnets keeping the wide "leg" in place in the position detents. The inner bumper case can be repositioned higher (as the images show) or rotated to portrait orientation. My pencil WILL charge through the bumper, and there's also a convenient spandex pocket on the back to keep the pencil mor esecure (but uncharged). All in, great case.
