Product Description Jake Evans releases his debut album, ‘Day One’, via Republic Of Music on 31st July. The album sees the former Bad Lieutenant co-writer strike out on his own for the first time with a little help from friends he has made along the way. The album features contributions from former Doves frontman Jimi Goodwin whilst the download and limited vinyl formats include an alternative take of ?? featuring lead vocals from Bad Lieutenant bandmate and New Order vocalist Bernard Sumner. Over the ten tracks the album hints at gospel (‘Easy On My Soul’), dips a toe into psychedelia (‘Sun Goes Down’), flirts with the dancefloor (‘Telephone’) and nudges up against Augustus Pablo (‘Last One Standing’) but, at heart, is about Jake and his guitar. ‘Day One’ was recorded and mixed in Jake’s studio facility, Big Red, in his hometown of Macclesfield in between detours to play guitar for the newly solo Jimi Goodwin. A hub for the local music community, Big Red was instrumental in Jake making the record. Housed in a former mill building in the town it became operational after six months of hard work in 2013, when the newly solo Jake Evans premiered some of the songs that would end up on the album in support of Johnny Marr, Paul Weller and New Order alongside festival appearances at Kendal Calling and Festival Number 6. Jake returns to the live arena over the summer, dates will be announced soon.

Good Evans!
Great album from former Bad Lieutenant guitarist and New Order collaborator Jake Evans. Carries on in a similar vein but shows real promise both as a musician and a songwriter. It also features contributions from Jim Goodwin and Bernard Sumner. There are notes of Doves or even Oasis in the album but he has his own style and there are some strong songs from the up-tempo This is Life to the slower and more thoughtful Easy On My Soul. Well worth a spin if you like your rock a bit Indie!

Fantastic Debut Album
What a great discovery! Bought this album last year and have been playing it ever since.Fantastically catchy songs, well written and with great musicianship - I have also seen Jake live and he doesn't disappoint. If you like "indie rock" type music (I hate labels!) then you will love this, quite simply one of the best albums I have heard in the last 12 months - and for a debut it bodes well for future releases. If it has one flaw it is that it just isn't long enough - make the next one a double !!Oh, and tour more.STOP READING THIS REVIEW AND BUY THE ALBUM !!!!!!!

Jake is a master at writing catchy songs
Jake has crafted a set of songs that are pure dead brilliant. Catchy, hook filled groove-tunes that make you want to jump, shout, and dance. Jake has a particular talent that serves the song. There are no gimmicks here, just wonderfully written songs that are a pure joy to listen to. Anyone who is a fan of Muse should give Jake a listen.
