Mx Ac Line Fault Detector - Mx 1177

Works really well. I hired an electrician to install a few switchboards, fans and lights. On testing circuits with this device, I found earthing missing (critical fault) in some sockets and live / neutral wrongly connected in a few sockets. I feel this device is necessary for every home to protect equipment and perhaps save lives. Buy this inexpensive gadget especially since we hardly have electricians who are really 'qualified' to do the work

Very good, handy product hut can I use it as night lamp ?

Absolutely super product, those who leave negative reviews dont know how to use it. The built is sturdy very much and fits imto socks snugly well. One guy had left review doesnt even fit into 5a socket thats because 5a is non standard socket, most sockets r 6a not 5a. And those who say multiple lights are on, that indicates multiple faults. Those who say loght turns on even when off..try turning the switch on, it will show live and neutral reversed, which wud make the current flow even when switch is off, hence it lights up When the light is dimly appearing means fault is there (like earth fault) but is more minor. Its dead accurate in my opinion and has saved my appliances many times, and my family from shocks. Highly recommended, also can be easily used by electricians and people who are less experienced with complex multimeters for fault detection as its simple 3 led and written aout it right there no complex screens. This device is dead accurate, if u think its wrong or faulty then first check your wirings.

WARNING: ELECTRICITY IS FATAL AND CAN KILL YOU. TAKE APPROPRIATE PRECAUTION BEFORE ATTEMPTING REPAIRS ON ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS. The MX 1177 works quite well, it's a small form factor voltage detector with three pins, and it works on most standard switchboards without problems. The front has three LEDs which glow accordingly to the status of the wiring in the switchboard. I've seen some reviews that mentioned that all the LEDs glow regardless of the status of the connection, but that's not true in my case. The lights glow appropriately and I've been able to figure out that three switchboards in my house were wired incorrectly (power and neutral wires inverted). I opened the switchboards and sure enough, each of the switchboards had inverted power and neutral wires. The only problem with the unit itself is that it's a bit difficult to fit into all kinds of switchboards as the pins are spaced wider than usual (by approximately .2-.4mm) which can make some switchboards feel a bit dangerous to plug into. A little bit of fiddling and the plug will fit but please be careful as to not use too much force as the chassis of the plug or switchboard plate may get damaged. This is an easy recommend, does the job and is cheap. 4 stars because I've purchased it recently, the fifth can only be given to things that last longer than 6 months!
