Good for kids, hobbyists
Vine offered me two of these watercolor sketchbooks to review: one has a blue cover, and the second has a teal cover. I wondered why, since everything else appeared to be exactly the same. However, one was priced an extra $4. This company seemed to have initially placed different advertising jargon on Amazon, and then seemingly changed it up. My reviews would have been different, if they didn’t do that.**Edit** Amazon Vine has redirected me here to review both the teal and blue covered wc sketchbooks. Since receiving them both, the price for both has dropped, almost in half for one of them. Not sure if the difference between the two is merely a reflection of my individual perception or if it reflects a less uniform sizing type of issue by the company, BUT: the blue covered book seemed to have crisper, more thirsty and absorbent first sheets.I tend to study watercolor paper in a pseudo scientific way. I’ve got many different kinds, from all wood pulp to Washi to various degrees of cotton,…and some of the latter being made with rag and others being made with linters. I have included an image of a painting that I made of a moth and pink flowers for you to use as reference for my review below.I put this paper through the same rigorous watercolor work out that I would do for any painting that I’d make out of watercolors. The biggest weakness that I see is that masking tape, which I used to create a border, tore the paper when I lifted it. I should mention that I used artist masking tape; which is designed for this very purpose. You can observe the tears on the left side and on the bottom. The only other “weakness” is that, in my opinion, it doesn’t enhance my work like the 100% cotton paper does. It’s not horrible,..far from it. But I probably wouldn’t use it for a professional piece. Now: on to its strengths: I used several different watercolor techniques, and the paper held up just fine. Wet on wet, wet on damp, wet on dry. I used salt to create texture, not once, but several times. I even used rubbing alcohol to create a different texture. I deliberately created blooms, cauliflowers, and scrubbing. In other words, this paper would have been ok for students to use before moving on to cotton, if only the masking tape didn’t cause tears. That’s a heartbreaking, serious thing to have happen, after working hard on a painting. I did not try masking fluid. Maybe with the next “test”.These pads might be good candidates for mixed media sketchbooks. Just my opinion.

Great watercolor paper
I am a beginning watercolor artist and I'm always looking out for watercolor paper. This paper is 140lb/300gsm heavy weight paper. Probably made of wood pulp since it does not say cotton on it. The texture is smooth - somewhere between cold press and hot press. Much more forgiving for pen work. Good value for money.

Great Quality Watercolor Paper for Beginners and Experienced Artists
The Hapikalor Watercolor Paper Pad is a fantastic choice for artists of all levels. The 140lb/300gsm paper is thick and durable, preventing warping and allowing for vibrant, smooth washes. The 9"x12" size is perfect for a variety of projects, from detailed sketches to full paintings. The texture is just right, providing enough grip for different techniques without being too rough. It's great for watercolors, and I've also used it successfully with ink and pencils. The pad's blue cover is a nice touch, adding a bit of style. Overall, this paper pad is a great value for the price and perfect for both adults and kids exploring their creativity. Highly recommended!

Great for many types of paper art.
We are all very crafty and do many types of crafts including drawing and painting. We have used many types and brands of drawing/painting pads and this one even though on the cheaper side is right up there in quality.-It came in well packaged and in great shape.-It draws very smoothly and doesn’t smear very much.-For painting it takes the color very nicely and doesn’t pool or bleed.-For watercolor just go light on the water otherwise it may warp a bit. To be honest though we have spent much more on watercolor paper for it to warp much worse.-For markers it works great and there is no bleed through.Overall this is a great all around art pad.

Great paper for mixed media and acrylic paint. Texture on one side is smooth like hot press.
I like this paper very much because unlike most of the other reviewers I use watercolor paper for painting with acrylic paint. I also use it in mixed media, but primarily for acrylic paint. So I can't comment on how well it holds up to wet on wet watercolor painting. I like that one side of the paper is more like cold press than hot press paper (it is smoother) which is my preference for painting or when making a mono print. It is nice and heavy (140 lbs / 300 gsm)) but seems stiffer than most 140 lb watercolor paper which I believe is a good thing. I particularly appreciate that the wood used in the pulp comes from non threatened forests. I will get this again. Great paper for its price point. I would like to find this paper in a larger size.
