I have to say, it was mainly the title that caught my eye and made me buy this book. But I loved every second of it. It was fascinating reading all about Kelly Bishop and the incredibly amazing life and career she has led. To be honest, this is the first book I've actually finished in a very, very long time. It's easy to read, hard to put down, and just like a warm hug the whole way through from my favourite TV-grandmother. I highly recommend this to any fan of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino, or, of course, the wonder that is Kelly Bishop!

An extremely interesting memoir. What a life she has lived so far! Very fascinating. And parts brought me to tears.

Wow what a history, a life that Kelly had. Thanks for sharing it. Also thanks for dirty dancing and joining the Gilmore girls as Emily. Also I think you are perfect as baby's mum in dirty dancing and not the one you went for. Cause if you did. Don't think Emily would be the same.

It looks OK

I'm a fan of the Gilmore Girls and always loved Emily with her acerbic tongue and unforgiving strength but knew nothing of the actress behind the character. I'm not usually a reader of biographies but this was fun and entertaining, it had no airs or graces and told it just like it was. Thank you Kelly Bishop for entertaining us for so long and allowing us to see your world and how it came about. It was just like listening to a friend having a chat!

This was a very interesting read. Kelly discusses her career on Broadway, dirty dancing and more. However, just a heads up for Gilmore girls fans, that there isn't much discussion about her time on the show, so don't expect much in that area.

The Good: * The title may lead you to believe that this book is an homage to Kelly’s career on the show Gilmore Girls but she has so much more story to tell and it’s incredible. * There were some utterly heartbreaking moments in these pages that were so completely unexpected. Kelly eloquently expresses her emotions so if she’s feeling sad, so are you. * I had no idea the type of career successes that Kelly had prior to Gilmore Girls, I found her life story to be incredibly fascinating. * If you want to know how to make it in show business, this might be a blueprint. I’m not totally sure, because I’ve never had anything to do with it or any desire to do anything to it but Kelly sure seems to have come out on top. The Meh: * I don’t have much to put here, I mean I gave the book five stars. However, I must disagree with Kelly on her opinion of the ending of A Year In the Life. Bottom Line: I came for the Gilmore Girls nostalgia and I left in complete awe of Kelly Bishop. I even shed a few tears. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so emotional over a memoir. If you liked the Gilmore Girls, this is a must read. If you like Broadway, this is a must read. If you like movies, this is a must read. If you like stories about the struggles of being a human, this is a must read. This book is so relatable for anyone, especially females of course. She included a little photo album at the end, starting with a baby photo and working all the way through photos of her working on Gilmore Girls which I think is so adorable. Oh and BONUS - if you get the audiobook you can have it read to you by Emily Gilmore.

Watched “Gilmore Girls” many times with my mom and I decided to buy this book for her birthday… she was so happy to receive it!

Das ist ein sehr leicht zu lesendes Buch, das tolle Einblicke in das Leben von Kelly Bishop bietet. Für alle, die die Serie Gilmore Girls mögen, ein Extra Pluspunkt, da auch hier viele Bilder viele spannende Einblicke und interessante Facts enthalten sind. Kelly Bishop schreibt leicht verständlich und sehr unterhaltsam. Für mich eine tolle Lektüre während des Urlaubs.
