Try and find one that is specifically rated for 100w and specifically has alt-dp mode mentioned and you should be good. Be aware that if you go much past 70 cm the datarate likely drops back to 20 instead of 40 gbps. Cables exist that can do 40 over longer distances, but they tend to be quite expensive.

Well, I have it running and supporting 3x monitors. Maybe not at 144Hz, because my monitors don't do that, but nevertheless I don't see why not?

Q: Is this compatible with hp elitebook 830 g6?

It should work. It's driver free and the dock supports both regular usb-c and thunderbolt. Do be aware the bandwidth of the (regular) usb-c is half of those of the thunderbolt 3 spec. Another thing is that internally there could be 2 or 4 pcie lanes associated with that port. Take home from that is - 4 lanes is better. It appears to have 2. That means that very high def high bandwidth video might not go smooth. Bottomline - it will most likely work, almost certain for officework etc, but not at maximal speed. Whether or not you'd need that is something you need to decide.
