Q: are these reusable, can be clean clear?

I have only used acrylic paint on these and no, they are not reusable. It is thin paper that you use and dispose.

Q: Color aside, how does this product hold up in comparison to Strathmore's and/or Canson's palette paper?

I haven't tried Strathmore and Canson. Grey Matters paper palette is very good. Holds up super well but I can't compare it to others. One sheet of the Grey Matters will last me a long time. Sometimes weeks. I milk it because I can. It's strong. Doesn't fall apart. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Q: How wide is the thumb hole?

There is no hole for your thumb. Because I hate cleaning my palette, I tape these sheets to my standard palette either one with a hole or a glass square like I have. Then, when through for the day, you can simply remove the sheet and put it aside if you are using oil paint or dispose of it.

Q: Does the pad have a thumb hole?

No, the pads are solid.I shopped around and found a plywood pallet that is rectangular and about the right size. Using small clips you can attach a sheet, locate and cut a thumb hole and be done with scraping.
