Sex Offender

This is what should be on mainstream radio in a perfect world but mainstream radio isn't cool enough for this band. Sex Offender is sonic art at it's finest. A great listen from start to finish with razor sharp songwriting, polished vocals that will make your head spin and plenty of guitar and keyboard acrobatics that will surely give eargasms to anyone who's ears are still working. I can't leave out the rhythm section...drums and bass are tight and in the pocket and will punch you right between the eyes. Polka Dot Cadaver deserves your attention. Buy this and thank me later.Thank you sir, may I have another??

All I can say is that this album is awesome.... The music is perfectly blended and keeps my interest thoughout the entire album... very rare for me to not skip songs.... Since I've been introduced to these guys I have felt that they made something that is possibly, dare I say, mindblowing GENIUS. I hope for more albums from these guys and look forward to attending show here in the Philadelphia, PA area.....

Love these guys, go to as many of their concerts as I can and own all of their other cds. But this cd is pretty bad. Lyrics didn't even seem like they were written by Todd, they seemed like they were written by a teenage goth girl, or Scott Stapp. Music was decent, but not nearly as creative and as original as a fan has grown to expect. I'll support these guys no matter what they do next, because I know they have the talent to make amazing music, but this cd won't ever go back in the cd player.

Great album. Dark and wonderfully put together as all their past albums.

I had been anticipating this record ever since I heard they were making it. I've listened to Purgatory Dance Party a million times since 2007 and its one of my favorite records due to its insanely eclectic nature and twisted lyrical content. So naturally, when trying to think of what a follow-up would sound like, there was no way for me to even be able to guess what was coming.Sex Offender is more guitar-oriented, and the overall feel is that of a technical melodic metal record. Also new is the addition of permanent bassist Dave Cullen, who adds a heavy distorted bass sound to all the tracks. However, the time signature changes and programming are still there, they just don't drive the songs on this record like they did on PDP. In this respect, Sex Offender feels more like an album from a full-time band than from a studio project, and it's got a great organic feel to it. There is cohesion between each song, whereas on PDP each song could have been from a different album due to the varying styles from track to track.Todd Smith continues with his sick, yet friendly psychopathic lyrics that you just can't help but smile when hearing. In all his projects, this has been his theme and it truly makes him unique and I like that he's always sang what he wants without worrying about commercial appeal. Todd shines on this album with soaring melodic choruses, soft whispers, and his trademark demonic growl. John Ensminger is amazing as usual with tight and snappy drumming that carries the songs along beautifully. There are lots of new wave synth lines and sinister polka piano stabs sprinkled throughout the album too, giving it an insane charm. Truly unique.Highlights include the tongue-in-cheek Bloodsucker (GREAT chorus), Slaughterhouse Striptease (could have been on Purgatory) and my absolute favorite Forever And A Day which reminds me a bit of Midnight Cowboy from Faith No More's Angel Dust. An epic sweeping album closer. The whole album is amazing though. I hope they get more attention with this record. I have been a fan of Dog Fashion Disco for over 10 years and it's been a pleasure listening to the incredible output of Todd Smith's musical endeavors leading into Polkadot Cadaver. Always criminally underrated, and no doubt they will be with this record too. Still, I think if music fans have an opportunity to hear a record like Sex Offender, they will take notice of the high quality and originality contained within. On a side note, if I'm not mistaken the girl on the cover of the record is the heroine from the original War of The Worlds.Don't ever stop making music guys. Buy this record people.

I would have to agree with everyone elses reviews...Polkadot Cadaver are a lot more cohesive unit on this album. The sound altogether sounds more focused, more metal based, and better delivered. This doesn't mean I didn't like Purgatory Dance Party. In fact, I love Purgatory Dance Party like it's my own child. I just think die-hard Dog Fashion Disco fans were quick to judge that some moments on Purgatory Dance Party sounded similar to that of DFD; even some sounding like that of El-Creepo. This album gives Polkadot Cadaver a defined polished sound while still having those unpredictable curve-balls thrown at the listener in classic Smith and co. fashion. While this album is definitely a lot heavier than PDP, the band builds songs up only to explode in electro-metal fury! Keyboards and samples are used on this album but only to add a little bit of atmosphere to each song or dissonance. Another thing I found Polkadot Cadaver are embracing a lot on this record is their spastic/sporadic tendencies. These moments are not overdone and are used in a completely tasteful fashion that even an average metal fan should be able to love. The band has definitely refined their sound, expanded their boundaries, while managing to stick to their guns. I honestly can't see any fan of this genre being let down by this album. Every song to me stands out but my personal favorites are "Forever and a Day," "Slaughterhouse Striptease," and the title track "Sex Offender" (which features fellow DC area legend - Neil Fallon of Clutch) will definitely get you hooked on this record! If you don't like it, sell it back to me! I can promise you my copy is going scratch up because I have easily listened to this 100 times already.

As good as it gets, amazing song writing, in my top 5 albums.

It's got most of what you'd have loved from PDP, and has that Dog Fashion Disco funkiness, but is definitely inferior to PDP in my eyes.The packaging was fine, no damage.
