Beautiful box, individually wrapped, chestnuts are large, soft, and covered in caramelized sugar
I absolutely LOVE raw chestnuts, but had never tried candied chestnuts before. These come in a beautiful box (it would make a great junk journal cover!). Inside is a plastic tray that's sealed, and then inside that are the nuts, with each being individually wrapped/sealed in a gold foil. The nuts themselves are super soft, and they're covered in what seems to be caramelized sugar. The sweetness of the sugar is soaked all through the nuts. The nuts I received were really large, too...and they're so rich and sweet that just one bite is enough for me for a while. Luckily it says that after opening, you can re-wrap a nut in the foil and keep it in the fridge. If you diced these up and sprinkled them over ice cream, it would be *decadent*...very expensive for a topping, but decadent, lol.

A little indulgence
Have never had these before and figured I'd treat myself! So far I've eaten only roasted chestnuts. These have an interesting taste--they are primarily very sugary, but also have a tang to them almost like they're infused with alcohol, but there isn't any alcohol. The packaging is very secure, with a nice box, plastic covering, and the chestnuts are individually wrapped and sitting in a tray. The whole ambiance is pretty luxurious. Definitely a great luxury treat.

These are not proper Marrons Glaces
These have not been processed as Marrons Glaces should be. The chestnuts are hard and laying in liquid and are not glacé. Sooo disappointed. Had to wait weeks for them and it definitely wasn’t worth it. Save your money and buy French or Italian. I didn’t realize these were Turkish. What a shame.

Delicious if you like chestnuts.
These are just like my Nonna used to make. These are not your typical flavor and consistency. They are very sweet and soft. They were fresh. The amount can seem small, just 5, but they are heavy so with 1 or 2 you will be done for a day. HahahaThey were deli!

Anything sweet is good.
These were a novelty, definitely. I've never had these before, and honestly, they were very interesting and tasted pretty good, as they're sweet, so of course they will.My only complaint is that the flavor and texture seemed a bit inconsistent. I get that it's probably normal with these, but one of them actually had quite the bitter aftertaste. Alone, they were - fine - but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to eat these alone or as an addition to something else. Are they $27 good, though? No. Definitely not. As I said, they were nice for the novelty, but this is nothing I'd go out of my way to eat again because there wasn't anything particularly memorable about them that makes me want to go out and seek them again. Packaging is not important enough to justify a prestige price on something as basic as a food item like this, so to me, the product doesn't match the value. If you're interested and don't mind spending the money? Sure, why not. Maybe you'll find that memorable experience that I didn't.

A sweet indulgence
As others have mentioned, these come individually wrapped and I found that they are best kept in the refrigerator for the best texture. The chestnuts are butter-soft at room temperature and fully soaked in a sugar mixture. They are quite sweet and one chestnut is almost too much as a snack or light dessert. For me, the taste of the chestnut was lost in the sweetness which is a shame since I love roasted chestnuts. The chestnuts come elegantly packaged and would make a great gift. They seem pricey for five pieces, but as an occasional extravagance, these work well.

Quality
The worst candied chestnuts I have ever had!Ridiculous price for 5 pieces! If only they had been good, wouldn’t have mattered!Took them to my son and was mortified!

Bit of a Grainy Texture
I'm a fan of chestnuts, and I roast them every year during the holidays, but I'd never tried the candied variety. These were ok, but the texture was a little odd. I'm used to chestnuts being a bit like a macadamia in texture, but these were almost "spongy," as if they'd absorbed too much liquid, and the outside tended toward the gritty side. This is probably just me being too picky about texture, or maybe I'm just not "dialed in" on how to enjoy their essence, but these was a no for me.
