The Best Instruction Book Ever! Golf Magazine's Top 100 Teachers Show You the Fastest Ways to Shoot Lower Scores! (Book + DVD)

The best thing about this book is it isn't too heavy, and thus, you needn't worry about getting a hernia. What this book ain't is the best instruction book ever. What it is ,apparently, is a bunch of articles about various aspects of playing the game, stuck together by topic, often containing superficial/contradictory information. My hunch is that the articles appeared first in Golf Magazine, the publisher of this book. I only wish that I had a subscription to Golf Mag., so that I could cancel it . By the way, my copy, like that of many other reviewers, didn't include the promised DVD, but, that's no big deal; the content of the DVD probably sucked, i.e., just like the written content.

Lots of up-close photos. Instructions are in small bite-sized chunks (perfect for our age's Just Give me the Facts mentality).There are some contradictory statements (for example, widen your stance vs. narrow your stance as a way to improve your swing). But if you read it in context you are giving up one thing for another in each example.Has some good drills to help you swing better.I had zero prior lessons (other than from my fellow hackers on the course). I am probably a bogey golfer (through in a few pars/birdies here an there) that lacked consistency with the swing. I am hopeful that these drills help me hit the ball more consistently and drive my score down below 90s. On the range, it already feels better and I know when I hit a bad shot, what I likely did that caused it, so I can correct it.I would recommend this for any new golfers that have never had instruction. And even if you have had instruciton, this is a nice reinforcement of your setup, stance, grip and swing to help you become more consistent.

Arrived in a timely manner. Good book, old but good reading.Book was in great shape almost like new.

This is more of a compilation of short articles from Golf Magazine rather than an instruction book on swing essentials from the ground up. There are good tips and some drills in it but it is organized from several different instructors.Q: What is the one thing two golf instructors can agree on?A: What the third one is doing wrong.Having said that, one may find the Holy Grail in it but don't expect to build a purely beginner swing with its contents.

What a nice book! and what an awesome deal! It is very comprehensive and has tons of great tips. I bought one used that was in "like new" shape for very little money. I am going to be able to use this book to improve my game for a long time!I like that it has lots of short sections so that I can focus in on one thing at a time.

This book arrived in fantastic condition!

The book has some good pointers but can be very confusing at times. Some of the advice given in the book on one page is also contradicted in the book on another page, so it can be hard to discern what is right. I suppose this is because the book has 100+ instructors giving tips and advice, and what works for one instructor does not work for another instructor. In the end I guess it means there is no single accepted way to swing a golf club, so the user is given various pieces of advice and has to figure out what works best for his or her swing. Good luck in figuring this out!

Very informative Lot of good information

Some excellent little reminders of what to remember as you step up to address. Really good use of photo's and plenty of tips and tricks to experiment with at the range. Just remember not to try them out for the first time on the 1st tee!

Bought this for my son-in-law. I think he found it useful and certainly enjoyed the read and tips. Then he was able to pass it on.
