I gave the bed about 36 hours after setup before I laid on it. It appeared ready after about 6 hours, but the additional day+ made a big difference in firmness. When I was putting the sheets on, it seemed light and kind of flimsy but I've never owned a box bed before so I didn't know what to expect. The first night, I slept so hard I put a kink in my shoulder from my initial position being bad. The 2nd night I made sure I was arranged better and didn't wake up until the alarm, which is unusual for me. I have a bad vertebrae in both my neck and lower back from accidents, and have had surgery on both shoulders. I need a bed that provides excellent support to prevent problems in those areas. This bed has been great after the first month. My neck hasn't felt this good in a year, the weight on my shoulders is low with the memory foam top so my shoulders aren't bothering me, and the bed supports me as a whole well enough that my hips aren't sinking too far and causing lower back issues. I specifically went with this over the 14" hybrid because it was supposed to be slightly more firm and supportive. I was sleeping on a Macy's Aireloom which was about $3k new. It's nearing 10 years old and I was starting to get some kinks in my shoulder and back from sagging. Sitting/laying on the 2 beds, there is no question where the additional cost comes from. The Aireloom is the nicest bed I've ever owned or slept on. The quality of materials and well thought out design are impressive. That being said, for a bed about 15% of the cost, this Sealy has so far exceeded my hopes. I sleep every bit as well as I did on the Aireloom when it was new.

Was trapped undecided between this and some offerings at Costco. Honestly I don't make that much so even what would normally be thought of as somewhat inexpensive or affordable for a mattress took no small amount of savings. I wanted to get it right and my gosh was it agonizing to choose. Such an unreasonable and almost senseless gamble to buy a mattress online without ever testing it in person especially a mattress in a box, typically mass made in china and drop shipped by some third party company that charges multiple times it's actual cost, you know what I mean. Now I typically take careful consideration of negative reviews especially in issues that are consistently reported and for that reason, despite all the stellar reviews on other websites, every mattress within budget had a repetition of negative issues. This mattress seemed the most consistently well reviewed across several websites, and all things considered I was willing to go quite a bit more over budget for something so vital as a mattress. With all that out the way I'll say it now, this mattress has been so much better than I could have hoped for. It's soft, very soft, mostly dues to the extra thick topper but with the support of an actual coil frame. I personally cannot stand foam mattresses, and all the nice spring or hybrid mattresses where just too much. Then again my main concern with hybrid mattresses are the hazardous materials used in manufacturing. They check all the boxes for flame resistance and what have you but the toxicity was not something I wanted to risk. Imagine having to de-gas your mattress and even then the materials aren't going to decide to not be carcinogenic just because you sleep with them. It's isn't verifiable what these offshore manufacturers are using but this mattress is made in the US. I did spent quite a bit of time researching into it's safety and manufacturing and since this is too much already for a simple review, I'll end this by saying: this mattress is sooo comfortable, well made, and safely made. (Just don't jump on it like a fool and complain the support gives out or pile drive the thing with all 400 something pounds of yourself after a long day and then go on amazon to complain when the knit cover starts to inevitably tear. It's still a product that needs to be taken care of just as everything else).

So, this is by far one of the most comfortable mattresses for the price. The reviews seem to be more for the 10inch, and somehow are linked with the 12inch, which are SIGNIFICANTLY different. It is indeed Medium firm, that happy medium for a 6'3 250lbs guy like myself. It also hold my 5'4 120lbs wife just fine. It is NOT hot with the memory foam and the springs DONT stick out into the foam. This is the best mattress on the market for this price. I bought the 12inch hybrid King and it sleeps so well. I get a very good night sleep every night, something that I haven't had in years! No arm falling asleep or indentions in the mattress, Medium firm like it says. Just unroll out the box and let it inflate, there isn't a chemical smell as they are certified safe by US standards! Sealy great job of making this product,

We purchased this mattress after looking for a month or so and reading multiple reviews. We had a comfort air adjustable bed, one side kept loosing air and we could never find the reason. We decided to try the mattress in the box. The reviews on this were good, no complaints of odor and many people said it was soft, yet firm, I couldn't understand that one, but he wanted a firm mattress. I received the mattress in two days, it was easy to set up by myself. I took it out of the box, carefully cut the wrapped plastic, then I was able to roll it out onto the platform of our adjustable base. Once I started to cut the sealed plastic, I could hear the air and saw the mattress starting to rise, once I got all that plastic off, the mattress continued to rise and it took about 15 minutes. I decided to try it out and see if it was soft, yet firm, to my surprise it was! I tried to explain this to my husband and he couldn't understand what I was even talking about. When you lay down, it feels soft, but you don't sink in, it stays firm! When my husband got home from work, he laid on it and said the same thing, he couldn't understand my explanation until he tried it. He is a back sleeper and he hardly moves at all the whole time he is sleeping. It's been a few weeks now and he is very happy with it. It has a memory type foam on top, but spring coils on the bottom. It has a zippered cover around it as well. I haven't tried to wash that yet, so I'm not sure how hard/easy this will be when the time comes. You also get 120 nights to try it out, if you aren't happy you can send it back, it doesn't look like we will be doing that though!

I'll admit to having been skeptical about purchasing a mattress in a box. The reviews for the most popular ones were all over the place, adding to my doubt. When I bumped up the price range I was looking for and decided to focus on established brands, this Sealy stood out from the rest. I took the plunge and ordered it. It arrived 4 days earlier than estimated. I set it up early the next morning before going to work to give it time to expand. Set up was simple, the hardest part was getting a 60 pound box up the stairs and my old mattress out of the way. As I got to the end of the shrink wrap, the mattress began uncoiling, slowly enough that I had enough time to position it atop my existing box spring. There was no odor, as some reviews on some products mention. It assumed full shape pretty quickly and was ready for sheets, etc. when I got home from work. I slept on it that night. It's very comfortable, I toss and turn a whole lot less than I used to do, my sleep quality is definitely improved! The memory foam conforms to me while being neither too soft nor too firm. The springs underneath provide good support for the whole thing. I'm very pleased with it. I used my existing bed frame and box spring, which went against the recommendations but I have three metal cross bars on the frame each with a support in the middle and they all attach to the wooden side rails that slot into the head and foot boards with metal supports. If you have a sturdy bed frame, you'll be OK. You will need a box spring if you do not have a platform bed frame. With all that, the mattress does weigh 60 pounds so make sure you can accomodate that weight. Final comment, sitting on the edge of this mattress is no different from doing so on a regular mattress, it's plenty firm enough, the memory foam and coil springs support my 250 pounds just fine.
