The VivoBarefoot Trail Freak II WinterProof Running Shoes has a lightweight natural fit, with duo 3M mesh and laminated structure that gives a comfortable and secure 'second skin' fit and stitchless lateral support. The mesh provides breathability to keep the environment on the inner feeling cool and dry as well as providing reflectivity in low-light conditions to keep the wearer safe and visible. Ability to achieve total flexibility, the tough fine mesh and patented ultra-thin, puncture-resistant sole Give natural motion control by allowing the hallux (Big toe) to engage rapidly with the earth as well as independent rear and fore-foot movement, for all round stability and support from heel strike to toe off. The Trail Freak has been integrated with a full Hydro-Guard Dri-lex lining which is a lightweight, performance lining specifically designed to wick moisture away from the skin to provide the ultimate comfort and a dry ride. Keeping to comfort, The ultra-thin, off road sole has the perfect balance of grip and sensory experience providing a wide toe box and giving the shoe a zero-drop, ensuring there is plenty of room for natural movement and natural shock absorption by allowing the arch and toe to load, splay and recoil. The sole is perfect for off-road with a great balance of grip and proprioception. These shoes are specifically made for the outdoors, with 4.5mm lugs which give an unprecedented amount of traction to give the wearer confidence in extreme conditions and uneven terrains.

Vivo Barefoot Trail Freak
These are the most comfortable 'barefoot' trail shoes I've found. Grip on even the worst terrain is good, they've never rubbed, there's enough sole thickness to protect your feet on rough, rocky ground and they last quite well compared to other brands I've tried. Now on my second pair and they're top of my list to buy when I need to replace my running shoes again.

Highly recommended
This is my 2nd pair of Vivo Barefoot shoes. I took up running in January, watched the instructional videos, as the running style is different to normal trainers. I have had no problems whatsoever . I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone who walks, runs or just likes being in the outdoors.

I really like them, n need to start using barefoot shoes ...
Well, I really like them, n need to start using barefoot shoes n technique for running n walking. I thought I ordered a 6.5 but they r labelled 6.5 L. And they are a bit bigger than I would've liked (even taking into account that barefoot shud b roomy for proper movement. But they are still good and perhaps it was my mistake in not reading info properly b4 ordering I don't know. Vivo barefoot are very nice tho, just read the sizing well.

Great shoes
I absolutely love these shoes, however....I wore them without socks on my first trip out with them & my toes caught on the inside seems 😖 Sock should be worn at all times!!!!Great feel & I personally think they make me run faster 😀

Dog walks in the woods are fantastic now my feet feel free rather than being trussed ...
My 2nd pair in the last 2 years. Dog walks in the woods are fantastic now my feet feel free rather than being trussed up in rigid hiking boots.

Smart shoe.
A light looking, and light weight shoe - just what I wanted. A little tight at the instep, but hopefully that will loosen in time.

Great multi-terrain, multi-use shoe!
I really wasn't sure, if purchasing this shoe would be a good idea. It is expensive, I had to order it online without trying it in a shop and some of the bad reviews really made me think twice. But in theory it really was what I was so badly searching for: a barefoot shoe, light and comfortable, waterproof, sporty and fit for tough terrain. As I am very minimalistic I wanted one shoe to use in spring and autumn when you can never know if it's going to be wet, for everyday use, running, hiking and trailrunning. And this shoe fullfilled all my expectations!!!Yes, the material on the top is harder and less flexible than on other vivo barefoot shoes. Since most of them have that very light mesh net that couldn't possibly be made waterproof, I get that. And yes, if you're used to wearing barefoot shoes you're not used to having to break them in, but you do with these shoes. After the first day of wearing the shoes I had a red spot above my big toes, where many people said the shoes were too narrow. But after a week they had softened and widened and my toes were fine.Concerning their general tightness: As I have very small and narrow feet with a flat spun, for me it is fine. I can even wear them with thicker socks. And at least my pair really is waterproof. I hiked through puddles and small rivers and my feet stood dry. Of course their not high, so water can come in from above. But I appreciate their flatness, as it makes them light and sporty. In heavy rain or similarly wet conditions I would wear them with higher waterproof socks. For their official use - trail running - they're great. The sole gives a lot of grip while you can still feel the ground. Which for me also makes them great hiking shoes. When you're not running but hiking for a whole day it is much more important that you're feet stay dry, and I hate that most hiking shoes are these huge, heavy monsters that cage up your feet and don't let you feel anything of the ground. For every day use they work for me, too. Of course if you're in simple conditions you wouldn't necessarily need the thicker sole with more grip, you could have a thinner and softer sole to feel the ground even more. But as I don't want to have ten pairs of shoes, these do well. I'm always prepared for rain, muddy conditions or having to run with these shoes.Just one thing is a minus point for me. The waterproof material makes them less breathable, which is just logical. But when it's warm or when I run I find my feet getting a little too sweaty in there. With breathable bamboo socks it is better. I do not recommend wearing them without socks.I guess the hardness and non-breathability of the material are why vivo doesn't produce them anymore. But for me waterproofness is a great feature for which I'm willing to go with a little less comfort. They're definitly still much much more comfortable than a non-barefoot waterproof shoe.So I am already sad that vivo doesn't make them anymore. I'm gonna need a new pair when I've outrun these :((Also; International Shipping said the package could arrive anytime in the next month - but it was here 2 days later. That never happenend to me before :D

Great trail hiking shoes
These are terrific trail shoes. I do not run, but use them for hiking on fire trails and single track trail hikes. Just the right amount of thin sole to protect your feet, but still allow you to feel the ground underneath. They are very flexible, but stiffer than other "street" Vivos. Fit is perfect, with plenty of room in the toe box.The light color is not actually too bad for keeping clean - I just vacuum them after a hike and run a damp cloth along the white edge. The turquoise color is fun. Can't beat the price on this "last season" color compared to this season colors, which cost 3 times more!

Growing on me
Okay: I am new to minimalist running shoes, but I am barefoot most of the time and the "transition" for me was non-existent. However, I was not expecting the fit of these. I have a pair of Merrell Bare Access Ultra and the Bare Access Trail and those are much more structured. This is more like a slipper. It's like wearing a non-breathable sock with grippy bottoms. It is suggested (inside the box top) to remove the insole if you have one and I did the first time I took these out. I didn't like them. So, I tried them with the insole (which the top says is only for insulation against cold weather) and although the fit is tighter, they feel much better on my feet. They are really like a glove... you have to slide your feet in and then fiddle with the toggle a bit to get the pressure right around the areas of your foot you like more or less tightness. it seems to be somewhat ineffectual.I cannot wear these with socks - my toes are at the very top already and they'd be too small with even very thin socks. I don't like that- I like socks for running. I'll find out soon enough if they are destined to stink. After 2 runs, they are still fine. Also, no blisters or uncomfortable seams. They're ugly as heck!! It's fairly comical, so I can pull it off. I almost can't imagine an uglier shoe! It's just not appealing to me at all and they look gigantic on my foot.Edited to add: I wear a 41 EU / 10-10.5 shoe. The 10.5 is too small for socks of any type, but I can get them on with not a millimeter to spare. I haven't had a problem with long runs and swelling, but I never have for any shoe. I do 20-30 miles of tough trail/mountain a week on average.
