Another good SunVara product
I am a new beekeeper (started in 2021) and am still acquiring tools I need to take care of the bees and harvest honey. I only have 2 hives, so I do everything manually - including collecting honey. The first year I tried just 'slicing' off the caps and letting the honey drip out of the comb. That didn't work very well -- the honey really needs to be 'extracted' somehow. The next year, I used the 'crush and strain' method, where I just scraped off the comb completely and then squeezed/strained it through a mesh screen. What a mess, and it ruined the comb which the bees must then rebuild the next year. This year I will use this uncapping roller and see if I can poke holes in the capping and either rent or borrow a centrifugal extractor, or maybe try setting the frame over a tray in the oven set at about 100F. So I think this roller will be great to uncap the honey cells without damaging the comb and without the mess of using a heated knife to slice off the caps. We'll see.Just a note that SunVara really produces some nice products, so I recommend them. I already have their Honey Bucket 5 Gallon Bucket with Spigot , [{ASIN:B0CJPKH35S Honey Strainer Filter]], and , and Bee Storage Beehive Frame Honeycomb Resealable Bag . All are great quality and useful tools.

Way easier than forking!
I have not had a chance to test this out as it is not honey harvest time, but I am excited to give this a try instead of doing a full uncapping on a frame. I have used forks before to break the caps, but they are still pretty messy. This unit feels sturdy and the tines are plastic, but feel very sturdy. Just roll along your frame, and then toss in the extractor. Or at least that’s the idea. Feels quality and I am excited to try it out. I will update if this is a dud.

Works like a charm
I am a stickler for not wanting to waste any comb in my beehives that I don't have to considering my climate is very short summers and long bitterly cold winters and my bees struggle to get enough frames built out as it is. This device is great because it simply pops open the closed honey cells so I can spin them out in my extractor and the bees can go right back to filling them unlike when you use a comb knife and the bees have to go back and spend precious time and energy rebuilding the damaged comb. The whole construction is very nice and durable and the handle is smooth and comfortable in the hand. This is a must have tool for any beekeeper and is priced incredibly fair.

Pretty good uncapping roller
This roller seems to be constructed well and I haven't had any issues with it. I'm not used to using an uncapping roller, and I've messed up a little. It is a little tricky to get used to. However, I think it's worth it because it does preserve the comb so the bees don't have to work so hard to rebuild it. And I do think it is less tricky than a hot knife.

Great tool for uncapping honey.
This tool works great for minimizing damage to comb so you can freeze your comb frames for the next year.I like this because it's reducing the amount of work my bees will need to do next year and they can focus more on collecting pollen and nectar instead of having to rebuild all new comb in the super. I would recommend.

Takes a bit of practice
I used it last night for the first time on a test run (two super frames). I have an extractor and I ran this along the capped cells. I'd recommend from what I learned--brace the bottom in your capping bucket, and take your time to roll up and down over the whole capped frame. Do it twice because one time you might only get the very edge of the capped cell. It's also easy to clean--run under hot water.Because it's a tool like the capping rake which this is replacing, you do get a lot of wax in your extractor, so make sure you filter your honey well. I personally don't mind it--it's less wax than slicing the cappings off but it does less damage to the honey cells, which means less work for the gals to clean up and refill.

Well made needle roller - makes uncapping easier!
I typically use a knife to uncap, but I'm eager to try this (at the right time). It has a sturdy handle and the roller is hard plastic which rolls easily on the steel rod (similar to a paint roller). Because the roller is plastic, cleaning will be easy. At a little over a foot, it is easy to roll this over your frames - much easier than trying to use a knife to uncap.

Nice built capping tool
Good solid handle and roller assembly. The spikes are a good sharp plastic and will penetrate the caps easily. This will be much cleaner than scraping the caps off like we have been doing and less wax we have to filter out when processing. Easy to use, just roll it over the comb and your done. Can't wait this fall to use it!
