Daily Mail Pitcherwits – Volume 1 (The Daily Mail Puzzle Books)

Fairly tedious, and often wrong
There's nothing much to like about the Daily Mail - there's very little news, just tittletattle about the royals, celebs etc - but there we are, it's in our house on a daily basis (not my choice, I assure you) - but I do find the puzzles quite entertaining, particularly the crosswords. The quick and the cryptic are good fun, and to a lesser degree so are the pitcherwits. So I bought Volume 1, and was disappointed. The illustrations are sometimes barely distinguishable, and some of the clues are often misleading - and often downright wrong; for example, a clue will direct you to look at a couple of words to find the answer therein, but in fact the answer lies in another few words or a phrase. This happens throughout the book. But hey ho, I'm already on puzzle no. 143, and I'll probably buy Vol.2 later, just to see if they get any better.

Fantastic puzzle book
I ordered this book at the beginning of February and have been waiting impatiently for it to be released. I love puzzles and crosswords and this is a brilliant combination of both. I do the pitcherwits in the Daily Mail and look forward to tackling a new puzzle every day so it's fantastic to get a whole book full of them. The puzzles are basically crosswords with some of the questions having pictures instead of words as clues. They are not as easy as they sound either, some of them are really tricky and really do make you think. They are very cleverly thought out. This book is jam packed full of pitcherwit puzzles and I can't wait to get stuck in, put my feeble little brain to work and get solving!

GOOD HOLIDAY PUZZLES
We just love Pitcherwits and fight to complete the ones in the Daily Mail every day! The book contains 200 of which many are repeats of what have already appeared in the Daily Mail. We found this rather disappointing, as we expected Professor Rebus to have compiled fresh ones, but alas, this is not the case. Maybe the next edition might be more original. Nevertheless, a very good puzzle book for the spare moments in your life!

200 pitcherwits puzzles in one book
I bought Book 1 as I have done puzzles from more recent books in the Daily Mail. I found that in this book I could do them more easily, I am elderly and was more familiar with the answers, words from my era

Good fun and an interesting twist on crosswords
Occasionally there are very obscure words which I have never heard of and are probably just used to fit in with other letters/clues. When you have done a few you get in the swing of it and as picture clues are often used again you can solve it much better/quicker

Different
Elderly mother says its OK, but then getting thanks for providing some entertainment is not on the cards so I cannot tell how good it is really.Looked interesting if a bit simple to me, but maybe I needed to go further through the book. Seller service was very good.

Good enjoyable
A friend bought me one of this books and once I got the hang of pitcherwits, I found it very enjoyable to sit down and spend a few minutes doing one or two. When I had finished the book I bought two further editions.
