Oil Eater Overnight Rust Remover - Safe & Easy Soak for Tools, Auto Parts, Antiques, 32oz Concentrate - Makes 1-Gallon

This was my first restoration project I picked up, in order to keep myself busy. While saving these kitchen cleavers, from the depths of a garbage bin.I’m including the before, during, and after to show the extent of the rust. And ways to help. Distilled 5% white vinegar, Arm and Hammer’s Super Wash (the yellow box.) a wire tool either as a handheld, or for the drill, helped tremendously as a natural cleaner.However, I needed something more. Images three and four were before I actually used this product. The last images (five and six.) were after I used it. It works incredibly well! I would definitely purchase this again, and it is easy to use, while not entailing me to still have to use an electrolysis tank. It actually started to work immediately. I mixed in some super wash but not much during one wash, and it seemed to help too. Keep this in a well ventilated room though because I couldn’t due to my cats. It does smell pretty intense otherwise.It does work pretty quickly. However, you still need to wait with due diligence. The longer the item soaks, the better the end result will be. I did this about three times just to be sure the rust was removed after I went to scrub the residue off. For what it is, it works very well. I would definitely consider using it again.

Removes rust from old axe heads and tools.

I've used many rust removing soaks as I work on a nearly 60 year old car. All have worked. Bought this product for the price and promise of a gallon of rust remover from one bottle. After several days a rusty spring pan is just as rusty as when it started. I've used Rust-Oleum rust converter, rust 911 and others. All worked. This product does not. I had a second bottle on hand and used more without diluting anywhere near what it says to dilute. Waste of my money.

It does indeed remove rust. Chrome plated tools look great. But the pictures imply like-new metal. Instead the steel turns black. The blackness is in the water and on the tool; your hands will turn black from handling. Not gonna return it, but not going to finish out the bottle or buy another one.

Follow the instructions and it works like magic. For some tools that are extra rusted some elbow grease will be needed with a wire brush but it is worth it and truthfully not that hard to do once the soak is over to take off most of the rust. Would buy again.

I have also used other overnight solutions and this works just as well. It’s advantage is being a concentrate it makes a lot more solution for the price.

It’s great for surface rust and stubborn rust requires multiple soaks. But good product.
