Worth the money, easy to fit myself

Fitted to: Baumatic B144SSLongevity - bought the same replacement one in March 2014 (used buy it again feature) so is like for like.Replaced it November 2016 so approx 2.5 years using my oven twice (or three times at most) a week for half an hour at a time.If you use your oven every day for an hour your mileage will no doubt be considerably shorter.Still much cheaper than an £80 genuine replacement (genuine ones used to be about £35 if bought elsewhere) if I have to do that every two years, it's still cheaper to buy 8 of these.Suggestions for ease of fitting:---------------------------------------------a) If you've not done it before take a picture before you unwire it. Makes it much easier.b) each prong has a pair of metal bits poking up. Simply use one on each side ignore the other metal pokey up bit on each side. Presumably other cookers use some form of plug that needs both.Positives:--------------------------------------------a) Cheap, does the job and longevity for price is good compared to an original one that might last twice as long but cost 7 times as much.b) Took about ten minutes to swap the old for the new and I'm no electrician. Literally anyone could do it assuming they can use a screwdriver without stabbing themselvesNegatives:----------------------a) Packaging or lack thereof. It arrived in amongst other items in a thin plastic bag with the two prongs exposed (only the coil was covered) One one of the prongs the pair of metal bits poking up were really bent. Used pliers to straighten prior to fitting.b) No instructions at all but guessing this is for multiple ovens so you wouldn't.c) Once the base was screwed in (even lightly) the screw hole on the top of the coil didn't line up or was anywhere close (like 2 inches off) to the hole in the oven. I basically forced the coil by manhandling it so it would fit and screwed it in anyway. The genuine ones don't require this and I felt uncomfortable fitting it like this although once fitted it looked perfectly normal. (no issues since and a month on all working perfectly so maybe this is normal?)Conclusion:------------------------------- I did not enjoy my burnt raw carrots the first time. Seems to cook things even quicker now on the same settings I'm used to so I've dropped the temp on the dial of my oven about 5-10 degrees to compensate. Oven reaches temperature much quicker. Just be careful the first time you cook something and review at stages as it may be burned on the outside and not cooked in the middle!- If you can watch youtube (or use common sense) and a screwdriver this is an easy fit even if you need to force the top section to align the holes.I expect another 2 or so years out of this before having to replace it. As stated your mileage may vary if you use your oven for hours every day.If this helped it'd be appreciated you could click YES below.
