Excellent sound and function
We're very pleased with this unit. We use a 3.1 system in our TV area, stereo plus center channel and subwoofer. It's nice that this unit supports that. We get very nice imaging from this, and don't really miss the surround speakers.**We had to replace the old HDMI cables with new ones that could handle the larger bandwidth of 4K. If you're cables are 5-10 years old like ours, newer cables are required to carry a modern video signal. We like the Yamaha sound, and are able to EQ it easily to sound right for the room. I've used several receivers over the years of various brands. Yamaha consistently delivers good sound and reliable product. I've never had a Yamaha product fail and fewer than 15 years. There are other units out there with more gadgets and gizmos, bills and whistles, not to mention smoke and mirrors. We want a good sounding reliable unit that plays nice with all of our AV sources and TVs. If that's what you're looking for, look no further than this unit right here.If you get a good price on this, it's unbeatable.Sony, Onkyo, Denon, Marantz, etc. - they all make good units with signature sounds. If you aren't familiar with them, and If you can't listen to a bunch of stuff, buy this with confidence. Here's an unsolicited recommendation: high quality speakers will do more to improve your listening experience than any receiver. If you're looking for an upgrade, start with your front speakers.

Very nice unit for the money
Like this one, cost a bit more but beat out the one I purchased that lets just say was not good. I replaced my 7 channel with this one mainly because of cost. It was easy to setup, looks great, and features great audio and video quality., The remote came with batteries and was ready to use. I have not used the Bluetooth yet, but plan to in the future for wireless connectivity. The screen is bright and easy to see so that works great too.

Great sound!
This unit is a replacement for the same unit I purchased 9 years ago. The first one worked very well and had great sound. I was kind of surprised it only lasted nine years but that's pretty good and definitely got my moneys worth out of it! This new one is great and has really good sound and function. The connection ports on the back are slightly different, only 4 HDMI ports instead of 6 like the old one but plenty enough for my setup. This is a great receiver with great sound and ease of setup. If you want to customize the settings there are plenty of functions that you can fully customize. Like I said this is my second one of these units and I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone who wants great surround sound for their entertainment center. You won't be disappointed!

A nice amp for the money
This was purchased before Christmas and I have used it as part of my tv entertainment setup and stereo system. It was easy to hook everything up and it performs well. It has many features and customizable settings which I haven’t utilized. The pre programmed sound stage settings seem nice enough, depending on your tastes. The straight or direct settings reproduce the music in the purest way. Plenty of options for attaching whatever inputs you have. The bluetooth connectivity is very nice. I use that with my phone and stream music with nice quality reproduction. The controls are pretty intuitive. I would say it is worth the price and a good deal.

Tremendous Value for What You Pay
I know next to nothing about speaker setup, but this receiver has been a blessing. It is very simple to connect speakers to the back and channels very high quality sound. It looks sleek despite having a little big, and the display screen on the front is very helpful. It never overheats and stays at a comfortable temperature.

Nice unit
I'm really happy with this receiver even though I don't have any speakers hooked up to it. Not using it for a speaker setup might sound like a waste of a product to some people but honestly I'm finding plenty of value in it with it's other features. The main reason I looked into getting a receiver was so I could have multiple hdmi devices hooked up to my monitor. I looked into hdmi hubs but there are a couple reasons why I've chosen a receiver instead.1. Reliability and ease of use. Ok, so like I said I use a monitor in my room, not a tv. Monitors don't have remotes so anytime I want to change the volume or hdmi input I have to do it manually. It's a 32 inch monitor about 3 feet to the side of my bed and it's a nice arms stretch to do so. Not a big deal and while there are plenty of hdmi hubs that offer remote changing or automatic changing I worry about the reliability of those devices. There are plenty of reviews that state their hubs stop working after some months or the automatic hdmi switching starts changing inputs randomly or getting black screens and such. I just didn't want to hassle with things like that.2. Bluetooth connectivity. This was another feature that I was looking into. Again, there are separate devices that offer this but just like hdmi hubs you will find plenty of reliability concerns. On top of that there's audio lag and previously when I bought a bluetooth transmitter I had to return it for that reason. Nice thing about this receiver is there is an adjustment for the audio to increase or decrease the audio timing but luckily it isn't an issue and the audio seems to be timed perfectly with my bluetooth headphones. It pairs up quickly too.I haven't tried the 4k upscaling with this receiver because I use a 1440p monitor but it's nice to know that it's there. Maybe in the future I will find a use for it. There's also some neat audio presets for things like movies, music and gaming. It's actually a pretty extensive list. I suppose I should also mention that each hdmi input can be named to your liking for a nice customization feel so when you flip through them you know exactly what's connected to that input. You can even use the hdmi ports when the unit is in standby mode but you won't be able to use the bluetooth connectivity. In the end I think this was a good purchase. It's priced reasonably and I'm getting good use out of it. Sound quality is great and the customizable features are a definite plus. More expensive than getting an hdmi hub and bluetooth transmitter but I think the reliability and extra features make up for this.
