I looked at a lot of Bluetooth speakers at a local big box store to "test drive" them before purchasing. This model was neither the cheapest nor the most expensive, but it certainly checked all the boxes for me. I use it to "open up" my Martin guitars - the vibration of music simulates playing the guitar, which advances the maturity of the wood. The tone is deep and vibrant, battery seems pretty good, it pairs seamlessly with one of my old phones, it's portability makes it a great size, and it is ridiculously easy to use. They make devices that do this that cost upwards of around $300; this speaker is just as effective, more versatile, and way less expensive!

Great little speaker. The sound is amazing quality and it connected to my phone automatically when I opened the Sony app. It came with 60% charge so I could use it right away. The ULT bass boost is amazing. My friend had this speaker and it made me want to get it. She had the green, I bought it in white. I hope I never have to find out if it is waterproof or not. But so far it's been very easy to use and has been better than my last speaker which barely held a charge. I do miss my rbg lights on the sides with my other speaker, but I will get over it because this one has a better sound quality and better battery life so far. A much better choice, worth the price.

So, yes 5 stars, and I mean that. To cut to the chase, this is an excellent speaker, and you should get one! Now, I usually do not post reviews, but I thought if you knew all this, it would help you understand why I gave it 5 stars and recommend it so highly! SOUND It sounds way bigger than it looks. The ULT button adds a lot of bass and I love that! It is great for EDM, Hip hop, R&B, 80s, 90s,... I tried basically everything I could, and it all sounded great. Even added a little more depth to a classical cello playlist I listen to while I am working. If you like a less bass-heavy sound, just turn the ULT feature off, and it will sound excellent. If that does not suit you, there is a 3-band EQ in the app. OH, and it sounds just as good standing up as it does lying down!! APP As mentioned, there is an EQ in there!! You can also change other settings and even see the battery life, which I could not believe was still 60% after a couple of days of me casually using it! Super surprised because I never charged it when I got it! Oh, I also noticed the "group with other speakers," and apparently, you can pair another one of these and get stereo sound out of them.... I have not tried that, but I will as soon as I get my second one! STRAP This was one I was really unsure about when looking at it online. The strap is genius! It can tighten or loosen and then stay in place. My little one liked to carry it around like a purse, but it is really versatile, and I found I could hang it one way or another everywhere I went. DESIGN Again the design is great, it is very stable standing up or lying down. The buttons are easy to use and because they are raised, you can use them without even looking at them. The SONY logo on the front looks silver most of the time but actually has some... I don't know what, but it changes color, which is a nice touch. See pics. Love the Forest Grey color, it is exactly as expected. A subtle green/grey that I have gotten a lot more comments on than I ever though I would. LIFE/KID-PROOF! Ok, so I like music in the shower, and let me tell you... this thing delivers, even when it got wet it still sounded clear. I did not need to have it at full volume either. Of course, my girls heard it, and when it was bath time, they wanted to have it with them. That is when I discovered it could float!! Now it does not sound great that way, but it still played even after multiple "accidental" dunks in the tub! They also loved to see what they could put on the woofer part, and see it dance and fall out. Lastly it is stink proof, as well as mud, sand and waterproof... My daughters and I clean the pond behind our house, usually after big storms, and pick up plastic and other garbage we find. My 6 yo, who likes to hold the speaker as a purse, thought it would be a great idea to bring "Ultra" (that is what they named it) with us while we did so. As expected, it dropped into the stinky pond muck when a dragonfly landed on it, and she screamed and tossed it like a live grenade...after fishing it out, I rinsed it off with some dawn and the water hose and it was good as new. To say this has held up remarkably well is an understatement. It looks great, sounds great, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a portable speaker. Hope this review helps!!!

I had a Bose SoundLink Micro Bluetooth Speaker in my shower to enjoy music while showering. It was good, nice size and average sound. I gave this Sony ULT Fiel 1 a try and man does this thing puts Bose on the bench. Amazing sound, both on bass and treble, its volumen strength is scary, I cannot use this at half a volume on Spotify because is way to much loud. Nice design too, its battery life is great, worth its price every penny. Fully compatible with my iPhone 16 Pro.

I kept the Ultimate Ears but if I had known that they were a Logitech Brand I would have never bought them. Logitech drivers aren't that great imo. Also I want to say I bought the Sony Ult 5 on sale at $250 which is a complete steal. $50 extra more than the Ultimate Ears but they sound a lot better and also get way louder at lower volumes while keeping clarity. The only thing the Ultimate Ears have better are the mids and I will say that they produce them very well out of the box but once you EQ the Sony's, they will be better overall. Enough comparisons, the Sony Ult Field 5 is a small to medium size Bluetooth speaker that is very capable of providing music for a whole backyard and annoying your neighbors (perfect!). I listen to them at about over half volume and they are very loud with great clarity. Out of the box they sound good but go through the 3 settings and see what works for you. The 3 "sound" settings can be selected by pressing the big ULT button or doing it in the app I suggest the app since the button will play this loud blasting noise when pressed. First setting (no lights on button) I think is a flat EQ, second setting is for more bass (sounds bad imo), third setting is the best if you don't want to EQ the speaker yourself, I think it just boosts everything up but its too much bass so I ended up EQing it myself in the app with the custom EQ option. My EQ settings are 0002234433 and I listen to EDM and Rock - Metal stuff and that seems to be the best for me. The speaker is very well built and has some weight to it so use that carrying strap. The carrying strap is kind of cool as it can extend to be a shoulder sling or shortened to like a small bag handle and to put them in just pull up the rubber covers and hook the strap into the loop. Battery life is pretty great, I seem to charge them like maybe 2 or 3 times a month depending on usage. My usage is anywhere from either an hour a day or if its outdoor then it could be hours on endless playback and still not need a charge. Charging is really fast too. I am not sure of the actual time but it feels like an hour or 2 for full charge but I do have a really nice charging block so that affects things a little bit. Also I am not sure when Sony finally allowed it but you can use it while its being charged unlike past speakers. Physical buttons include power, bluetooth, connect to other sony speakers, play/pause, volume, and ULT and also an AUX input behind the small back cover, yes an AUX input!!! You will need the app to access more settings of the speaker and it is worth downloading. I can't say much about the connect feature where you connect to other speakers but I would assume it is awesome and better to piss the neighbors off but at that point you might as well build a nice budget portable stereo system. All in all the Sony ULT Field 5 is worth it at $250 for being a bluetooth speaker. Anything around the $200 mark will not sound as good or produce the same stage presence as the ULT Field 5s. 4/5 product and will definitely recommend for anyone who wants a good bluetooth speaker. ---------------------

Excellent!! I am an audiophile! Having said that, I pay attention to all things sound quality related. If you are like me, MP3 files etc don’t cut it. This model was made for the demanding listener. Not all Bluetooth codecs are the same My FiiO M11+ portable player has Ldac and a 3.5 Line output. Both of these feature are able to be utilized on the Sony ult field 5. I play dsd and ripped cd files from my FiiO to the Sony. The sound of the Sony is often described as bass heavy. Nonsense. This speaker on the ult2 setting is rich full and natural. The speaker walks the fine line between just enough bass to sound natural,(bigger drivers) and reasonable Portability. The amplifier has decent power output to get to enthusiastic loudness, but still sounds very natural at modest levels as well, and a substantial sized lithium battery to have long all day listening sessions. Like other reviews have pointed out, the colour changing lights are a surprise. They are not too flashy, or over done. They add to the experience. The carry strap is very well made with the ends being metal and not plastic. The sound quality is very well tuned and musical. It is not boomy overblown bass. If you play lesser quality low bitrate files on a lesser Quality Bluetooth codecs, then perhaps you will have a different sound. But careful examination of this models features and build quality and its weight,(7lbs) will tell you the type of audio quality to expect at high bitrate playback over Ldac Bluetooth or direct line input, which is necessary for excellent sound quality. This is a portable Bluetooth speaker for the discerning listener. Well done Sony!

Don't get Confused just buy it, you won't regret. Sound quality is top notch, great clarity for a bluetooth speaker. It supports HIRes bluetooth codec like LDAC not many speakers have these although you need to be a android user. For better experience and comparison i suggest to visit store to experience the by yourself. For portability, it is heavy like 3.3kg but solder strap is given and with solder strap the portability is not an issue. Battery life of this speaker is also good and you can use external power source like ac adaptor also with type c and get extra boost on bass and volume. Party light is also very cool. Overall is a great speaker total value for money in this price, (better sound than JBL xtreme 4). Build quality of this very top notch, have ip67 rating. In the functionality, the Sony's party connect is there if you have Sony's other speakers which have this feature. Can connect two same speakers as in stereo although the speaker it self is stereo. In the back io panel there is also a aux in port for audio and the speaker can be a powerbank to charge your phone. All these things which make this speaker great in functionality.

Great little speaker with surprisingly strong sound for its size. Easy to connect, good battery life, and very portable. Perfect for everyday use and travel.
