Easy to install for added peace of mind
I live an apartment building with fire alarms that frequently malfunction - even after replacing them several times, they seem to produce many false alarms, which reduces one's faith in them. With detectors like this one from Red Cross, it's great to feel like I can add an extra layer of detection and increase my confidence, as well as my overall sense of safety. This is especially helpful in rental situations, where you don't necessarily have control over your home's fire alarms, wiring, or the possible sources of carbon monoxide. CO is obviously very dangerous, and there are so many ways it could build up in your home if something goes mechanically wrong with a gas stove, water heater, etc. It therefore gives me incredible peace of mind to have a reliable detector to monitor CO levels. This monitor seems very high-quality, and I love that it has an onboard battery to power the device if there is a power outage. The battery level is displayed on the screen, which is very helpful. The test feature works well and is easy to use, and I appreciate that the device also doubles as an emergency flashlight. The instructions are quite helpful.

Very nice to have in power outage.
After a 10 day power outage recently, it is nice to have a CO detector that is on regular battery backup and not a rechargeable one. I was struggling to keep my phone and rechargeable light sources charged during that time. Having something with regular batteries saves me from havo one more headache. It wasn't so bad this time since the power outage happened during warm weather, but I have been in winter weather with power outages lasting 2 weeks. We used kerosene heaters to keep warm and could have really used a CO monitor. If I have to resort to using an alternative heat source other than electricity again, this monitor will give me peace of mind. Super easy to set up. Put batteries in, test it, plug it in and test it again. It also provides a flashlight. I also learned you can never have enough lights in an outage. I've got mine set up between the kitchen and laundry room.

Easy to use, hope it works
I have other devices similar to this but none with a live screen and a flashlight built in, so thats pretty cool. What's not clear to me is if the flashlight is recharged while it's plugged in or not.METhe screen is nice but so far it hasn't measured any numbers so I do not know if it's accurate or not.The only downside is the price and all the printing on the device. I ended up putting it into an outlet in a corner out of the way so you won't see it all time.

Loud beeps. Plug-in with battery backup.
I have never heard of this brand before but the American Red Cross label gives me confidence for this CO detector. It's a plug-in with battery backup. It came with two AA batteries. At first, I thought the the battery door was missing and I was about to write a really bad review about it. It turned out the battery door was hidden in the plastic packaging. There's a "flashlight" on top with an on-off button on the side to control it. I assumed the "flashlight" was a nice added feature as I have not seen one before on a CO detector. Because of that, the on/off switch was a bit confusing as it's not labeled on the detector it's for the flashlight only. It had made me wonder if the on/off switch was for the CO detector. To test it, there's a round button in the middle. Hold it to test it and another push to stop the beep. The beeps are loud like other CO detectors I have used before.

Nice to have the added safty
This is easy to set up and clear to read. I like that it has a constantly charging back up battery as we get a lot of winter power outages. Its pretty large and it has bright lights so you really don't want it in a socket that is frequently used or might disturb your sleep. Other than that I am happy with this item!
