Works for my purpose
I tried to use it to test my flashlight and the value is kind of closed to what the flashlight manual said, but I guess this is more suitable for indoor lights than flashlight. When comparing which floor lamps is brighter, different angles seem to affect the values a lot which probably is true. I guess it takes kind of practice to use it properly. I don't have another one to compare but at least the values all makes sense when I tested it. Great tool.

Neat tool.
I snagged this because I wanted to be able to better compare lights for reviews, as well as see if manufacturer claims for Lux/FC are what they claim.I think i could also adjust my camera settings based on light measured with this meter.I have no experience testing lights, so i will need to educate myself before i publish any findings on lights.

Feels cheap, but appears to work properly.
From the outset, everything about this product feels cheap. The cap that covers the detector for protection is a hard, inflexible plastic. The unit housing plastic also feels like bargain basement quality. The unit, however, well-sized to fit a larger hand, making the meter easy to hold. All the controls are within reach, though you have to move your hand up and down a bit.The instruction sheet is exactly that, one sheet with two printed sides. The translation to English is pretty good, though there isn’t a whole lot to learn about operating the unit. The controls are ON/OFF; HOLD; MEM(ory); Lux or FC; MAX/MIN; and Backlkight. Not much to learn. Readings are easy to take and I have to assume they are correct. There is also a temperature indicator which may be selected in Centigrade or Fahrenheit. Finally, as if to emphasize the cheapness of design and construction of the unit, the compartment for the two (supplied) AAA batteries is secured with two tiny Phillips head screws Teeny little black screws that don’t stand out against the black plastic compartment cover. No screwdriver is provided. A fabric storage bag is provided. There is also a ¼-20 tripod socket on the bottom of the unit.As I said, the unit appears to work properly. I had hoped to use this in my photography and videography. But except in a general way of measuring overall light levels, I don’t see this as playing a big role. As a utility tool for measuring overall light levels, it seems to work, but feels cheap overall.Jerry
