I recently recieved my leccy bil for a month ! , AFTER coming round from my £300+ shock, I grabbed pen, paper and this meter and spent the day unplugging and plugging stuff in checking power usage through the meter . to say i was shocked is an under statement. knowing the LED bulbs drew little i checked appliances.being witer I use the washing machine and drier, each running for 2 hours at 2100W/hrs meaning one wash and dry used 8400W. Running a freezer for 2 hrs = 400W , a TV for 2 hrs =44W, A games consol = 26W, a microwave would use 4000w over 2 hrs , electric oven 4000w, an air fryer 200w. all based on running the appliances for 2 hours through this meter using its Watts setting for initial draw, then its cumulative usage setting over an hour then doubling. it opened my eyes, now before i run any new mains product i put it through this. so how do you use it ? Simple, lets test the TV (not actual results). ulplug tv from mains, plug in meter, turn on power, the meter shows 00.00kw. press the mode button once. the display now shows 00w. plug in tv, set to standby, the reading is 0.20w , that is your standby usage, use mode button to cycle to cumulative watts, leave for 15 minutes, reading says 1w/h, times this by 4, the tv uses 4w an hour on standby. now back to W and turn on tv, meter reads 11w, go to cumulative and run for 15 mins, reading is 110w times by 4, your tv uses 440 w/h. switch off, remove meter, restart tv knowinh how muck leccy you use an hour on tv. same for any appliance, just remember with fridges and freezers on start up their motors will use perhaps 2000w for 10 seconds as they start but should drop to 200w approx after that and in W mode the meter shows usage in real time, like wise a washing machine will show maybe 2400w while the water heats before dropping to 2100w for the wash and such fluctuations are NOT signs the meter is broke. Knowing the W and Whrs your appliances use not only helps you plan to save, it also helps you work out your required minimum needs should you decide to go solar or battery generator ( if I turn on every thing i will use 7kw per hour so I NEED an 8kw system to comfortably run the 3kw I will normaly use).

Very handy for checking your power consumption.

It worked well on my TV and desktop computer. I then plugged in my laptop charger, switched on and BANG. An orange flash from inside. Now dead. Since writing this review I have been plagued by emails from many different people asking me to remove this review. I will not do this, as it is an accurate statement of what happened. I expect this was a one off happeneing, but it happened to me. No more to be said.
