Takes a while to get the hang of
I got this to deal with the surplus we seem to have of empty wine bottles, and the lack of flower vases around here.I've cut bottles before using a plain glass cutter, and it's a pleasure to have the guide wheels and the ability to roll the bottles with this cutter. Much, much easier than free handing it.There were several things the directions didn't address, so I tried to make sure I photographed and included those here. All of it is stuff that you would figure out if you bumbled around long enough, but I figure I can save people some time. The orange squares that plug into the grid are attached to screw tops. This need to be undone entirely so that it can be put through the open line on the back of the large support piece. I also noted that if you allow any of the orange blocks to fall into the grid upside down, they are a pain to try to get out. I noted which is the right direction up in the photos. My main struggle with this bottle cutter was getting it to hold still for a single line of cutting around the circumference. A couple of times the rubber stopper moved a bit and the line began to stray. So I had to stop everything, move the bottle to a fresh place to cut and try there. I could see this aspect of this cutter being very frustrating for some people.I noticed a bonus to having the grid facing upward is that the tiny shards of glass that get shed while cutting file directly into the holes and don't scatter everywhere. That said, gloves are definitely needed here.

There's Definitely a Learning Curve
I'm an artist, so when I saw this bottle cutting kit, my imagination ran wild.Never cut glass before, but I've always wanted to, and of course, repurposing is a big thing to me, so I had to try this.It definitely takes practice. Don't go into it thinking you will be creating finished pieces in a matter of hours - it takes practice, and like any other craft, time to get to know your materials. But it's a good tool to learn on IMO. It's very configurable, and easy to set up. The instructions are pretty good, and there are lots of videos out there to tutor you.It IS glass cutting, so safety is important. Wear gloves and eye protection *always* !But go for it!

Rather tedious
I'm sure there is a good way to put this together and use, but this is quite tedious to figure out. It looks great, feels substantial but the instructions are like hieroglyphics.

FIXM Glass Bottle Cutter Kit, Glass Cutter for Bottles with Grid Baseboard and Adjustable Baffle
This is a rather interesting crafting tool. This is my first time using a glass bottle cutter. I’ve always wanted to try it, but never had a chance. The glass is really easy to score with this but you also have to add heat to glass and then dip it into cold water in order for the glass to separate. I tried doing this the first time when I was outside and it was rather chilly. I would not suggest using it outside because it took an extra long time to get the glass to break because it did not want to heat up. I would recommend the possibilities are endless with this class cutting tool.

Fun Time With My Daughter-In-Law
Two empty wine bottles and this cutter made for a fun evening craft. Haven't used a glass cutter since I was kid. Took a while for us to figure it out. One of the other reviewers' instructions were of great help to us. I'm not good enough at this yet to give a technical review, but my daughter-in-law wants to get together and do this again, and that's good enough for me. :) Glass cut easily enough and we had a lot of fun decorating our vase-like cylinders and adding little lights in them. I'm giving 4 stars because it was hard for us to figure out how to work this and the instructions didn't help us a lot - but not sure how much of that was us and how much was the instructions.
