Superb value for money
I bought this phono amp as I was using the phono stage on an exposure vx11 preamp. The exposure is about 30 years old but still sounds fantastic. The unit is a full size box however and I wanted something more up to date and small and funky. I have a little dot 2 headphone amp so love the valve sound and looks. Ordered the Yaqin and it arrived very quickly and in mint condition - packaging was decent which prevented any damage to what I thought would be a fragile unit. No need to worry however. The unit looks great when unpacked and it sits nicely alongside the little dot. Only slight criticism would be the intensity of the blue LED power indicator light which is a wee bit too bright however the unit looks crisp and modern. Was a bit nervy about the sound - had I wasted my money, after all I had a very decent phono amp in the Exposure and was the Yaqin going to be any good in comparison. I was very happy to discover that this was a fantastic little amp. I listened using the stock tubes for a while and although it wasn't as good as the exposure it wasn't that far off - the exposure was a very expensive amp in its day and remember the Yaqin is budget price in comparison. With the stock tubes the sound could be described as a very smooth and detailed midrange , decent top end but a pretty wooden sounding bass end although I have heard much worse bass lines from other kit. I quickly ordered some mullard copy groove tubes from Watford valves which set me back about £55 or so. They are now running in and starting to sound sweet. Did they make a difference - you bet ! The sound has much more bite and the bass end is now much tighter and has the correct timbre in fact pretty close to the exposure. For a total outlay of just over £200 I am delighted with this purchase after all a good phono amp is normally prohibitively expensive - not this little beauty ! Not sure how good it would have got with the stock tubes as I didn't run them in for too long and I am sure a lot of people would be more than happy with them if on a budget as they still sound very decent. Glad I went for the upgrade tubes though. If you have a good record deck and cartridge - Linn, Systemdek, Thorens or Michell or the like with a MOVING MAGNET cartridge do not hesitate to buy this as it won't be out of its depth - beware though MM only no MC input.

A real performer.
I bought it with some reserves as I thought "real Hi-Fi made in China? but it has proved me wrong, the Yaqin MS23B phono pre amp is a real performer. It sounds like night and day over the built in phono input on my Pioneer SC LX-76 A/V receiver (which was 2000€), the yaqin just sounds better. It get the most our my cart (Denon's DL160) and the grooves of my vinyl record. Where the integrated phono pre on my receiver sounds just OK, it turns out that next to the Yaqin MS23B it sounds muddy, dull and lifeless. The Yaqin bring music alive, it reveals details I couldn't get before. At the same time it sounds like a blend of neutral and sweet, I think it has to do with the two triodes CC83 valves it uses. Bass get a "boost" without sounding boomy, I guess the Yaqin is revealing what's just on the record's grooves, mids have real presence and highs sound silky but have real presence in the sound. It never sounds thing nor bright. The Yaqin MS23B is great with the valves it comes from the factory, but changing the CC83 valves to a pair of Gold Lion's CC83 with golden pins (which are not cheap but can be found for a reasonable price on the net) made it OUSTANDING.I'd buy it again, the Yaqin MS23B is a real performer.

Fault product, but there's no way to contact the seller?
I bought less than 3 months ago and noticed that the left channel is much quieter than the right channel. I've recorded the same record with using this pre-amp and other pre-amp and result was so clear that you can see on the sound wave. I'd like to discuss the potential solution for the seller, but i can't find anywhere to contact. Please contact me directly if you are seller and willing to find the solution with me. Thanks

Very pleasantly surprised
For the money, this is very, very good. Much better than my Pro-ject Phono SE it replaced. Was a bit dubious for two reasons. Never had a tube amp before and country of origin/brand name. Very surprised. Well made and not too bad to look at. Should sound better when it's run in and possibly upgrading the tubes, but very happy with my purchase. Connected to an upgraded Pro-ject Debut Carbon Turntable, Audiolab 8200A Amplifier and Tannoy DC Revolution stand mounted speakers. You won't be disappointed with this. sounds great out of the box and will only get better over time.

Gem for a budget price
For the price I should really give this 5 stars. But that would imply that it's perfect. Which, of course, is next to impossible. But it is DAMN good! I suddenly find myself playing vinyl over and over again which had previously fallen into disuse. The sound from this little box is so natural; completely smooth and crystal clear. It emphasises the mid-tones, but has really clear treble and nice rounded bass.I find it really suits the human voice. More suited to the Leonard Cohens' and the Eva Cassidys' than - say - the Ramones. That said it works for electronic music too - Eurythmics' Touch & Sweet Dreams were like new albums to my ears again. Laurie Anderson too.At any price this is good. At that price it is ridiculously so!Very happy.

Needs a LesBox conversion to sound any good.
It’s okay. Not the best straight out of the box. The smart money would be on the Yaqin MS 33B which sings compared with this. You can however make it sound as good as the MS 33B though!I have modified mine with a LESBOX conversion and it now sounds amazing. Also added a couple of svetlana winged C valves (tube rolling this without the mod will not get you very far). For mod details visit the Yaqin Facebook group.Nice looking unit. The unit is housed in a great heavy box!

The Yaquin MS23B for me is money well spent,
The Yaquin MS23B for me is money well spent, however I have upgraded the valves to PSVANE 12AX7 TII and the improvement was obvious straight away

Ampliamente recomendado.
