Works fine without power.
Purchased for a domestic setup, not in-car use. I have mini CD/DAB system and really needed to add a small active subwoofer to the decent but small pair of speakers attached to it; it has no output for a sub, hence this purchase. I was slightly worried as to whether this device would work without the power wires being connected but I'm pleased to say it works fine in this setup.

Very clever product... I wired to my rear speakers rather than tap into the head unit because it makes sense to do it this way because the sub is in the rear of the car & means I don’t have to run RCA cables from front to Bk... less work 😂 over all fantastic item. 👍🏻 Purchased for my bmw 123d coupe.
