OLYMPUS Linear PCM Recorder LS-P4, Slate Tone/Test Tone, Video Production Enhancer, TRESMIC, Bluetooth Connection,Black

I purchased this recorder recently from Amazon as I wished for both Bluetooth connectivity and FLAC type recording. I was very familiar with this design recorder as I also own their fine DM-720 which uses the same NiMh battery type with USB charging and built-in USB plug. The info on Amazon is not quite correct as there is only one battery needed and included that being their proprietary 1.2v 750ma NiMh rechargeable battery. My older model also uses the same and both have long battery life. This LS-P4 also comes with a 5mm to 1/4-20 camera thread adapter if used on a tripod. The BT function was easily setup and paired with my Android app Audio ctrlBT Olympus App. Connection is fast and accurate however; if you chose any of the three recording formats PCM(wav),FLAC,or MPS, the remote app only has use of the PCM format and not the other formats.One other issue encountered with this fine recorder and by comparison to my Olympus DM-720 in similar design is the Red "Record" button. My only issue is that it does require a double press of this button in order to begin recording. The first press "sets up" the record for a quick visual of settings but, you must press it again to record. This process may catch you off guard in a fast record situation as you have to insure that the screen says "record", and not "pause". This is different as stated compared to many other makes and models when there is only a single press for record. Not an issue for me when I remember this fact.I have tested the remote app up to 30 feet,no problems and it works fine. Remember to disconnect the BT feature when done and to reset your format to FLAC or MP3 as it remains in PCM even after disconnecting from the remote app.

This is a great recorder, period. I bought it after using a 15-year-old Sony that is not capable of a fraction of what this recorder can do. This recorder is very small and lightweight, yet it boasts features and options previously found only on much larger and more costly recorders.I tested the LS-P4 this morning in the field for bird and other nature recordings. The microphones are very sensitive, and the adjustable recording level, quality, format, and zoom-mic features are very helpful for field recordings. The menus are easy to learn and use. Time will tell if the built-in USB connection will hold up well. I hope so - now that I've used the LS-P4, I would not want to do without it. Highly recommended, along with a download of Audacity.

I bought this to record live performances, concerts, etc. I was previously using an old iPhone to recorder so this is quite the upgrade.When it arrived, I was very overwhelmed. It has a lot of settings! None of which I knew how to use. I did not know what settings/formats would work best for my needs. There was not much information included in the booklet ... just included buttons, functions, how to set the device up, charging, etc. After much research, I found a lot of helpful tips and tricks online (in other Olympus guide books like LS-10, LS-P2) on what formats and settings to use for MY needs (i.e. live performances).PROS:-Auto Intelligent Mode (no need to worry about overload/distortion on the audio)-Rechargeable batteries-LED/Backlight (which can be turned OFF!)CONS:-If you do not have knowledge on the different settings (Red Mode, Low Cut, Mic Sense, etc.), formats, frequency levels, and so on... this will be difficult to use (at first). It will be a game of trial and error!-Bluetooth is tempermental. I tried multiple on occasions - connecting the device to my iPhone/Computer and vice versa.

This device has a very user friendly menu however some of the commands to navigate through the interfaces will take time to get used to unless you read the manual first. The third mic centered in-between the two larger mics picks up lower frequency sounds very well and is able to be turned on and off. This device is very robust and is well worth the price for it's modern technology (the bluetooth and rechargeable battery) - it allows for a large breadth of post audio mixing via its two channel pickup. Has line-in for smaller external mics and a small speaker on the back which is loud enough for quick playback.

Hands down the best Olympus I've ever owned. Ita basically a lil studio in my pocket. The overdub feature works so smoothe and flawlessly. Bluetooth is not bad. I write and record Christian raps... this is the next step I needed!!! Thank you Amazon and Olympus... A+++ I highly recommend!!!

Super well designed and easy to use, but powerful recording device. Please take a look at some of the YouTube videos people have posted to get an idea as to how good this thing really is.

Digital voice recorder is too small for my big hands. I returned the item.
