Update 5/16/2023:The hook and loop attachment works fine. No complaints. I'm looking forward to getting the same life out of this that I got from the factory original.Initial Review 5/15/2023:This pad appears to be a nice quality product. The mounting holes line up nicely. The body of the pad is slightly spongy, as it should be. I also like the fact that the mounting plate is aluminum. I'll let you know how the hooks adhere once I've had a chance to use it a bit. FYI, I bought a different pad the first time, also from Amazon, which claimed to fit my sander, but it was absolute junk. The screw holes didn't line up properly, the backer was poly, and the body was a hard resin. My advice, spend the extra 2 bucks for this one. Cheers

My Makita #BO 5010, (5) inch orbital sander, was lost behind some tools in my too chest for about 25 years. The pad was rotten, but the sander was like brand new. I ordered the #743081-8, with the idea I could return it. At first, I was not sure it was the correct replacement, because it seemed to be very different from my origianl. Then I noticed the round metal piece, with (3) holes for screws, that was stuck to my original. It joins the base to the sander. It works great. No where was this important point mentioned in the directions. The $9 price was great compared to $30, $25 & $16. Maybe I should have been an engineer. James F.

Fits perfectly. Works just as well as the OEM one. The metal backing is a good upgrade. Relatively flexible foam but still durable. FYI I'm a master woodworker so I might know a thing or two about sanders.

I initially ordered this product and it did not work with my hook and loop sandpaper. It spun off the pad. I reached out to the company and they indicated that the problem was not the pad but my paper. They actually sent me a sample to try it out and viola, they were right! Made me a believer that their Union Paper worked great with the Union Pad. Excellent system and wonderful customer service. They stuck with me and we sorted it out so that now my sander works like new. Thank you!

This hook & loop was suppose to be a good replacement for the OEM, Makita disk. It is! My “other paper” does not work with this new disk. No fault of the new disk.When I complained, the manufacturer kindly sent me a replacement disk #2, and a box of THEIR sand papers (service above & beyond the call). Wow, the disk stay hooked; works perfect!I have no idea how the consumer will ever be able to order the correct sand paper, except to stick with whoever makes the HOOK disk, I guess. Other, frustration is sure to plague the person buying disks at random. In other words, both must be matched! Important.In any case, this manufacturer is the greatest !!! Thanks for stepping up and helping me solve me issue of throwing disks! All fixed!!!
